Quantity Surveyor
Based Manchester
Paying £(Apply online only) (outside of IR35)
24 month contract

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Infrastructure Division in Manchester, working on one of several prestigious energy and transport projects across the region. You will play a key role in delivering cost control, commercial management, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring every project achieves commercial and operational success.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial functions across a range of project work packages, including Design, Construction, Installation, Testing, Commissioning, Materials, Power, Telecoms, Civil Engineering, and Professional Services.
  • Support project delivery teams in change control, cost forecasting, and budget management.
  • Work closely with project managers to collect, validate, and report on financial and progress data.
  • Prepare internal and external commercial reports to support decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders including finance, project management, engineering, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain auditable records in line with contractual and company requirements.
  • Manage costs for direct labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors.
  • Estimate and assess variations, produce forecasts, and report on earned value and cost performance.
  • Support and implement project-specific commercial strategies.
  • Represent the commercial team professionally both internally and externally.


Requirements:

  • Proven Quantity Surveyor / Contract Administrator experience within a contractor-side project environment, ideally in Energy, Rail, Infrastructure, or Construction sectors.
  • A relevant HND/Degree qualification or equivalent; working toward or holding RICS or CICES professional membership is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a commercial role within a contracting environment.
  • Strong contractual knowledge and understanding of NEC or similar forms of contract.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and commercial management software tools.
  • Ability to work under your own initiative, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
