Job Description

About this Position:

Our client is seeking a Build Technician to support the transition from prototype to production of next-generation electric commercial micromobility vehicles. Based full-time on-site in London, this role focuses on building both prototype and production vehicles, helping to define and validate manufacturing processes, and ensuring high quality standards are consistently maintained. You will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams across multiple production stations, from sub-assembly through to end-of-line, while also supporting the development of the facility. As the team grows, there is scope to support onboarding, training, and to lead elements of the production operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assemble prototype and production vehicles, as well as test and development assets.

  • Support continuous improvement activities, including fault management and build process development.

  • Maintain MES dashboards with live status of production jobs against the production schedule.

  • Conduct quality and end-of-line checks on completed vehicles and sub-systems, carrying out rectification where required.

  • Support production line implementation and the introduction of new tooling.

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians as the team expands.

  • Attend and contribute to daily status meetings, providing updates on build status and issues.

Experience Required:

  • Experience with prototype, bespoke or development builds within Automotive, Aerospace, Motorsport or Micromobility environments.

  • Proven hands-on technician background with complex mechanical assemblies.

  • Ability to interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings, including lightweight 3D CAD models and technical drawings.

  • Familiarity with one or more MES and fault management systems.

  • Self-starter comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Highly organised and methodical, with a strong focus on process and quality adherence.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Strong health and safety mindset with adherence to relevant company policies.

  • Desirable: electrical/electronics assembly experience, fabrication skills (e.g. sheet metal, welding, manual machining), and/or workshop management/controller experience.
