Job Title: Die-Sink EDM Machinist Location: Malvern Pay Range: £32,000 - £35,000 Shift: Days Contract Type: Permanent My client, a dynamic organisation involved in precision tooling and injection mould manufacturing, is looking for a skilled Die-Sink EDM Machinist to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and optimising die-sink (sinker) EDM machines to produce high-precision tooling, electrodes, and critical components. You will be expected to manufacture components to exacting standards, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficient production. Key Responsibilities - Die-Sink EDM Program and operate die-sink EDM machines (Mitsubishi) using engineering drawings and CAM outputs. Produce, dress, and maintain electrodes; select correct electrode materials and process parameters. Set up workpieces, align electrodes, set spark gaps, select pulse settings, and monitor dielectric conditions. Bench-fit tooling assemblies using grinding and polishing techniques. Carry out first-off inspection, produce process documentation, and maintain machine logs. Perform preventative maintenance and basic fault-finding on EDM machines and associated equipment. Collaborate with toolroom engineers on electrode design and erosion strategies. Qualifications & Requirements - Die-Sink EDM Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings, including GD&T. Competent in defining problems, collecting data, and forming valid conclusions. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Experience with Kaizen/lean manufacturing techniques. Adaptable, resilient, and able to work in changing environments. Good communication skills and general computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook). Understanding of customer expectations, quality standards, and the cost of failure. Proven experience operating sinker EDM machines (typically 3-5 years). Knowledge of SolidWorks and basic CAM programming for EDM (or ability to edit programs). Skilled in hand finishing and electrode dressing (grinding, hand tools). Exposure to Wire EDM (Esprit), CNC milling/grinding, or CMM metrology is advantageous. Experience / Education Previous experience within injection mould manufacturing required. 3 years relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Toolroom Machinist Location: Minworth Contract: Permanent We are looking for a CNC Machinist to join our clients growing team in Minworth. A CNC Miller is predominantly involved in the manufacture of Plastic Injection Mould tools but also Jigs, Fixtures and gauges utilizing Hurco milling machines. It would be helpful if you can programme Hurco machines. There is opportunity for you to develop your skills in off-line 3-axis CAM cutter path creation and use other CNC machinery. You will be expected to accurately Set up work and cutters and program CNC machines efficiently and effectively to producing finished work that is checked by yourself to time set deadlines. You must adhere to all machine maintenance and machine cleanliness procedures. This requires the application of a broad range of activities including the interpretation of Engineering drawings and technical instructions and the use of hand, machine and automated computer controlled machine tools and measuring equipment. Role Responsibilities Toolroom Machinist Maintain standards of Housekeeping and Health & Safety. Manufacture of new tooling to engineering drawings in line with timing plans. Carrying out proactive maintenance and up keep on milling machines. Liaise with toolmakers, Cad/Cam programmers and Designers.
