The Role

Reporting to the Site General Manager, the Retail Horticultural Manager will oversee the department's day-to-day operations, focusing on team leadership, performance, and customer service. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and motivating a team of General Assistants to achieve departmental goals and deliver outstanding customer service.
• Ensuring products, from plants to garden accessories, are well-presented, well-stocked, and commercially appealing.
• Driving sales through effective stock management, displays, and department layout.
• Supporting the team with coaching, training, and performance management to maintain high standards across all areas.
• Leading by example to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused operations.

The Candidate

We are seeking an experienced manager with a proven track record in leading teams, preferably in retail or customer-facing operations. An interest in gardening is required; our customers rely on our expertise after all, but you need to be passionate to learn rather than an expert already; your focus will be on management, people development, and driving department performance.

Key qualities include:

• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience driving sales performance.
