Motorsport Project Buyer

Are you an experienced Buyer with a passion for motorsport and high-performance engineering? This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist team supporting the procurement of components and services for advanced motorsport vehicle projects. You'll play a key role in ensuring that all purchasing activities meet strict quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
What you'll be doing:
- Purchasing goods, materials, and services to support motorsport vehicle build projects, ensuring they meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Preparing and raising purchase orders and order schedules to support customer and project demand.
- Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) derived from engineering documentation and ensuring purchasing alignment with design changes.
- Acting as the key interface between suppliers and internal engineering, production, and programme departments.
- Conducting cost analysis on new and existing components and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Assessing supply chain risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure continuity and reliability.
- Negotiating contracts, improving pricing, and managing supplier terms in line with best procurement practices.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with global suppliers, particularly within the motorsport component supply chain.
- Researching new suppliers and components and preparing supplier nominations aligned with project requirements.
- Supporting supplier performance reviews and ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Resolving supplier issues related to pricing, delivery, or quality.
- Maintaining a high standard of safety awareness and compliance in all work environments.
- Carrying out additional procurement and project support duties as required.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a procurement role within the motorsport or high-performance automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of race car components and associated manufacturing technologies.
- College-level education or equivalent experience in supply chain, engineering, or business.
- Proven negotiation and commercial skills, with excellent attention to detail and cost analysis ability.
- Advanced Excel and IT skills with strong proficiency in procurement systems and documentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, suppliers, and project teams.
- A proactive and organised approach, capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
