About Tadamon Since the start of the genocide in Gaza, more than 1,300 Palestinians have arrived in Britain, with many hundreds more expected over the coming months and years. Some have arrived via boats and others as students or visitors unable to return home and forced to apply for asylum. Added to this are increasing numbers of students, injured children and their families who have been evacuated directly from Gaza to Britain. Upon arrival they in dire need of support, but often instead find a hostile environment and a charitable sector decimated by legal aid cuts and with limited capacity to assist them. The support that is available has been provided on an ad hoc basis by the Palestinian community and other migrant and faith organisations. Tadamon aims to formalise much of this ad hoc support, by extending more structured provisions for supporting the Palestinian community in Britain particularly newly arrived Palestinian refugees and those from Gaza through casework, community services, access to legal resources, advice and advocacy, mental health support, cultural connection, employment, language and skills training. Purpose of the Role Tadamon is seeking an experienced and compassionate Community Caseworker to join our small and growing team. The postholder will work directly with Palestinian new arrivals, including asylum seekers, refugees, students unable to return home and evacuees from Gaza. About the Role As a Sexual Violence Outreach Worker you will provide compassionate, flexible, and connected support to clients who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and/or adult sexual assault, in order to help them engage with the support provided by the new Integrated Plymouth Sexual Violence Service. Many individuals accessing the service will have experienced multiple adverse experiences and may present with complex, intersecting needs such as insecure housing, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and significant mental health challenges. You will provide support that aims to meet people where they are in order to build rapport and trust as the foundation for longer-term support and interventions. Key Responsibilities To build secure, consistent, and trusting relationships through a highly person centred approach as previous experiences and trauma can lead to mistrust of services, and inconsistent engagement. Support individuals to explore their holistic needs to increase their physical and psychological safety, sense of control and while working collaboratively with multi agency partners to ensure coordinated, wrap around support. Identify barriers to individuals accessing the service and determine solutions Actively promote and maintain a visible service presence within relevant community and partner settings to build trust and encourage referrals Utilise a case management system to maintain accurate and professional recording of case records and contribute to monitoring information for the service including the collection of outcomes About You You will need: An understanding of the impact of sexual violence and complex trauma Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills Experience of successfully delivering services and working directly within a statutory, voluntary or multi agency setting(s) An ability to balance competing needs and priorities An ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience of building effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders Personal resilience to manage exposure to highly emotional or sensitive demands of the role An ability to manage a caseload including complex case management An ability to use generic IT applications competently This role requires regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement.
