Support Staff (Learning Support / Teaching Assistant) Location: Waltham Forest Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time Salary: £105-£115 (daily) About Philosophy Education are seeking Learning support assistants for a specialist provision dedicated to educating pupils with complex needs / visual impairment / multi-sensory impairments / additional learning needs. The Role We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and dependable Support Staff / Learning Support Assistants to join our team. You will play a vital role in the day-to-day support of pupils with complex and varied learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and grow in confidence. Key Responsibilities Support pupils one-to-one or in small groups in lessons, helping them engage and learn. Assist with implementation of individual learning plans / EHCP goals. Support pupils communication needs, using visual aids, signing / Makaton / Braille / assistive technology as appropriate. Help with mobility, personal care, and life-skills tasks where needed. Assist in preparing resources, setting up classroom environment and ensuring safety. Monitor pupil behaviour, help maintain a calm, inclusive classroom culture. Liaise with teaching staff, therapists, and other support staff to ensure pupil s needs are met. The Ideal Candidate Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably including visual impairment, sensory loss, or similar. Understanding of / willingness to train in communication methods (e.g. Makaton, Braille, or other relevant systems). Patient, compassionate, flexible and resilient, with a problem-solving attitude.
