We have an exciting HVAC Technician opportunity in a dynamic defence environment, supporting mission-critical infrastructure. The Role Based in Fairford, UK you'll get to work alongside our dedicated workforce on a UK Military base. Prior HVAC experience will be required, although additional training will be provided on site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs maintenance, repair, installation and operation of refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, combustible equipment, and related equipment items Completes and quality checks maintenance records and documentation as required Repairs, installs, and operates refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, combustible equipment, and related equipment items. Associated with the GPMS Program Interprets electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and maintenance malfunction data to analyse malfunctions. Uses various test equipment, load banks and other diagnostic equipment as required by technical data to operate, maintain, inspect, test, repair, and reconstitute GPMS assets. Prepares GPMS assets/equipment for air/sea/road haul shipments in accordance with Technical Orders, Manuals, Checklists, Regulations, and Unit Type Code (UTC) Configuration listings. Prepares and completes required documentation to include DOD, USAF Supply/Maintenance, Amentum and associated forms. As well as updates to historical records. Operates material handling equipment as required. Inspects Hazardous Materials within the assigned work center and coordinates with the appropriate office for the disposal of HAZMAT when required. Performs other tasks and duties as directed by Amentum/ USAF tasking. May be required to assist in other departments when directed or requested to accomplish a specific task or project. Performs Temporary Duty (TDY) in the Area of Operations as required by USAF/Amentum tasking. Conforms to Amentum/USAF safety, hazardous material, and quality standards. Ensures all tools, personal protective equipment and clothing issued remain safe, secure and serviceable, reporting any deficiencies. Erects, constructs and operates GPMS HVAC systems and associated equipment to support real world exercises and contingencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applies knowledge of the design, system function, and interrelation of units comprising the system; physical properties and hazards associated with the handling of various types of petroleum fuels, chemicals, and alcohol; pipefitting skills, mechanical skills. Makes periodic inspections of units to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges such as R-11s, C300 series, and FORCE Equipment. Inspects electrical wiring, switches, and controls for safe operating condition, grounding, and adjustment. Repairs, replaces, and adjusts malfunctioning equipment to restore operating condition specified in regulations and repair manuals. Adjusts power boosters, drive chains, and tension devices. Solves complex maintenance problems by interpreting layout drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, and operating characteristics of vehicles/equipment and components. Uses technical orders, commercial manuals or automated systems to determine maintenance procedures and research parts. Disassembles, adjusts, aligns, and calibrates gauges and meters. Troubleshoots, adjusts, repairs, and testes vehicles/equipment. Lubricates and repacks valves; lubricates pumps; replaces gaskets and seals; corrects pumping equipment misalignment; services filter air separators and checks meters for correct delivery and calibration. Properly annotates all maintenance performed on prescribed forms for data collection and historical record purposes. Removes corrosion and repaints surfaces. Uses hand and power tools such as torque wrenches, and meters, bearing and gear puller, specific gravity scales, bench grinders, hydraulic presses, pipe threading machine, cutting torch, and other test equipment.
