This role suits a highly skilled Audio Visual professional who can lead onsite delivery, take ownership of installations end-to-end, and hand over fully commissioned systems to a high standard. The position sits within a technical delivery team and involves close collaboration with project managers, contractors, programmers, clients, and mentoring of junior engineers. Role overview Act as the onsite technical authority to ensure systems are installed to specification, fully tested, documented, and professionally handed over. Lead day-to-day onsite activity, supervise contractors, and guide junior engineers while maintaining quality, safety, and programme timelines. Coordinate with project management to resolve technical issues swiftly, communicate progress, and support change control where required. Key responsibilities Lead installation and commissioning of professional AV, video conferencing, and networked AV systems. Install and terminate structured cabling (Cat6/Cat6A), speaker and control cabling with high standards of finish. Install displays, projectors, LED, loudspeakers, DSPs, and control systems. Build and dress equipment racks with exemplary cable management, labelling, and power distribution practices. Commission VC platforms and room systems, including audio tuning, video optimisation, Teams/Zoom configuration, and DSP integration. Provide onsite leadership, supervise subcontractors, and mentor junior engineers. Work collaboratively with the project manager to provide updates, flag risks, and resolve technical issues. Deliver end-user familiarisation and ensure smooth project handovers with as-built documentation. Requirements Minimum 2 years' experience as an AV Engineer with strong exposure to commercial/corporate projects. Excellent understanding of AV signal flows: HDBaseT, HDMI, AV-over-IP, Dante, AES67, USB. Hands-on knowledge of ecosystems such as Q-SYS, Biamp, Crestron, AMX, and/or Extron. Confident with networking fundamentals: VLANs, PoE, IP Addressing, multicast. Ability to read and interpret schematics, construction drawings, and system designs. Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Experience leading a team or acting as the senior engineer onsite.
