Senior Backend Kotlin Engineer 6 month contract initially Outside IR35, Fully remote role (UK) An established consumer-facing technology business is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to support the continued evolution of high-scale Back End services used by a large international user base. This role would suit an experienced contractor who is comfortable working in Kotlin-heavy Back End environments, can operate with autonomy, and is confident helping teams move from Legacy systems toward more modern, cloud-native services. The role You will be involved in designing, building, and improving reliable Back End services, working closely with product, mobile, platform, and engineering teams. The environment is fast-moving, product-focused, and requires someone who can turn ambiguous requirements into clear technical direction. Key experience Strong Back End engineering experience with Kotlin Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform Background in scalable, production-grade systems Experience in consumer-facing, mobile-first, or high-traffic product environments Ability to lead technical work from discovery through delivery Strong communication and ownership mindset
