About the Role We're looking for a Process Scientists to join our plant-based team at Robertsbridge (British Gypsum). This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between central scientists and manufacturing teams, ensuring that new product development (NPD) and process improvements are successfully implemented on-site. What you'll do Lead and support NPD projects at the plant. Carry out testing and trials on production lines. Analyse data and results from plant trials to drive improvements. Investigate and resolve quality issues on the production lines. Work directly on plant operations, including sampling materials and conducting analytical tests. Use on-site laboratories for product and process testing. Introduce and implement new scientific methods for product performance into plant operations. Technical report writing What we're looking for Degree in Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in manufacturing environments (24/7 operations highly desirable). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to write clear technical reports and communicate findings. Familiarity with plant-based processes and laboratory equipment. Are you an apprentice trained Mechanical Fitter (Mechanical Engineer) who is passionate about problem solving and maintenance in a world leading manufacturing plant. At Saint-Gobain we are looking for a Mechanical Plant Fitter to work in our Engineering Team. You'll be responsible for the mechanical engineering activities on site, both planned and reactive, in order to keep production running so we can deliver to our customers on time, every time! This Mechanical Fitter will be a part of our Mill Engineering Team . You'll be working on heavy machinery and will possess the initiative to solve problems, perform repairs, and collaborate with production as well as the wider engineering team. British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we're very proud of. The hours of work are 8am until 4pm Monday to Friday, however we are a 27/7 plant and would therefore require some flexibility out of hours in case of emergency. What we're looking for: A mechanical engineer with experience in a production or manufacturing setting Minimum NVQ Level III qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline Experience of welding, fabricating, bench fitting and machining would be a bonus A continuous improvement mindset Excellent communication and the ability to solve problems and collaborate with the electrician and other teams H&S focus - safety is paramount for our business What you will be doing: Reactive and planned engineering works on equipment including but not limited to grinding mills, blow pots, homogenizer, expanders etc Use root cause analysis to solve problems and communicate relevant data to prevent reoccurrence regarding maintenance problems Autonomous maintenance tasks.
