Role Overview The client is seeking an experienced Azure HCI/Azure Local Engineer to support the design, build, and standardisation of a hybrid infrastructure platform. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise in Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI), hybrid connectivity via Azure Arc, and enterprise-grade automation and identity patterns within a highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering repeatable, secure, and automated hybrid infrastructure deployments, working closely with internal teams, enterprise networks, and potentially Microsoft engineering contacts. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and configure Azure Local/Azure Stack HCI environments Create and manage HCI clusters, including: Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) Software-Defined Networking (SDN) Hyper-V Integrate Azure Local platforms with Azure Arc for hybrid control-plane management Implement PowerShell-based automation for build, configuration, and validation Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using: Azure ARM/Bicep (where applicable) Terraform Integrate on-premises HCI platforms with enterprise network and identity architectures Apply and enforce RBAC, identity patterns, and enterprise IAM controls Standardize and document: Build patterns Configuration templates Operational runbooks Ensure solutions are repeatable, auditable, and production-ready Support knowledge sharing and handover to internal teams Engage with Microsoft technical teams where required (desirable) Skills & Experience Required Essential Technical Skills Deep hands-on experience with Azure Local/Azure Stack HCI Strong experience in: HCI cluster creation and management S2D, SDN, and Hyper-V Proven experience with Azure Arc registration and hybrid integration Advanced PowerShell Scripting and automation Strong understanding of: RBAC models Identity patterns Enterprise IAM Practical Infrastructure as Code experience Strong hands-on experience with Terraform Proven ability to integrate HCI platforms with enterprise-scale networks Ability to standardize, document, and industrialize deployments
