Field Service Engineer The Field Service Engineer will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and warranty repairs on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at multiple sites. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager (OM). Key Responsibilities for Field Service Engineer Perform regular inspection, preventative maintenance, annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance on BESS units. Conduct commissioning activities on new and upgraded BESS systems. Monitor system performance, analyze operational data, and provide recommendations. Perform system software and firmware upgrades. Provide remote diagnostics and phone support to customers as required. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment at BESS sites. Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability for field work. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures in line with local and site regulations. Maintain accurate administrative records including timesheets, daily vehicle checks, and service reports documenting issues and actions taken. Assist in-house engineering teams with product development and project work. Provide feedback from field experience to improve products and processes. Essential Requirements NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or related electrical/electromechanical discipline. ECS Card (Gold preferred). Experience in electrical or multi-skilled maintenance. Knowledge of basic IT systems including Word, Outlook, Excel, IP configuration, and troubleshooting software. Qualification to work safely on-site (e.g., CSCS, SSSTS). Willingness to travel to different sites, including overnight stays or international travel if required. Familiarity with BS th Edition wiring regulations. Preferred Experience (Not Essential) Hands-on experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Experience with High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) power electronics, including inverters, converters, and transformers. HVAC knowledge and F-Gas qualification. Strong understanding of IT networking concepts: CMD, remote desktop connections, subnets, VLANs, static IP/DHCP, MODBUS/TCP protocols. C&G 2391-5 Test & Inspect or equivalent qualification.
