Role: Lead QA Engineer - Automation Work location: Telford, UK Job type: Full Time Responsibilities Develop reliable automated tests for APIs, UI - web and mobile, integrations, and core business logic. Enhance and maintain automation frameworks so they remain clean, stable, and easy for others to extend. Introduce improvements that reduce flakiness, improve execution speed, and support future scaling. Collaborate with developers, analysts, and product owners to understand functional and non-functional requirements. Convert requirements into clear test conditions, edge cases, and data needs. Analyse failures, identify patterns, and drive root-cause discussions with engineering teams. Provide clear, actionable feedback through test reports and quality dashboards. Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines and ensure they deliver fast, trusted feedback. Help evolve quality gates so teams catch issues earlier in the development life cycle. Partner with DevOps and developers to improve test environment reliability. Guide engineers on how to write better tests, adopt automation standards, and use tools effectively. Run quick learning sessions, pair-program, and share reusable patterns that uplift overall team capability. Help new team members understand our testing approach and automation ecosystem. Identify bottlenecks in testing processes and propose practical changes. Keep exploring modern automation techniques, tools, and testing strategies-and bring back relevant improvements. Raise quality concerns early and constructively, helping teams make smarter decisions. Qualification & Technical Skills: Required Qualifications - bachelor's degree, specialized training, or equivalent work experience required. Minimum 12+ years of hands-on experience in Test Automation (No Test Manager or Test Lead roles) Minimum 3 large Scale Consulting exercise in any two of the following Test Maturity Assessment experience Automation Strategy and ROI Assessment Non Functional Test Assessment Minimum 7+ years of experience in Automation Testing Must have experience of developing Automation Framework independently, Hybrid and BDD Implemented Service Virtualization Developed and implemented API Automation Data Migration Automation experience Must have experience of Micro Services test automation Minimum 2+ years of experience as Performance Engineer Hands on experience with various APM tools such as HPD, Wiley, App Dynamics, SPLUNK, etc. Experience establishing Performance Planning Strategy that outlines Current Production Workload distribution & Performance Requirements and Test/Production Environment Requirements and Performance Optimization results Must have experience with performance diagnostics, performance architecture design, performance tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and/or software development in a n-tier environment Digital Experience Must have experience of Automating Mobile, native and desktop apps. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in test automation, functional and non-functional testing, and leading QA teams across agile delivery environments. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end QA activities across multiple projects and ensure high-quality delivery. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive test strategies, plans, and automation frameworks. Drive best practices in QA processes, tools, and technologies. Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless delivery. Identify quality risks, report defects, and provide actionable insights to improve product quality. Mentor and guide junior QA engineers, driving continuous improvement across the QA function.
