THE ROLE FINANCE ASSISTANT Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for purchase and sales ledger duties while supporting the wider finance function. Your day will be varied and fast-paced, giving you exposure across different areas of accounts. Alongside bringing analytical rigour to stock and margin data. A flexible approach to the demands of the position, with the ability to meet regular deadlines with accuracy and accountability, is also essential. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FINANCE ASSISTANT ROLE: Preparing and processing sales and purchase ledger invoices, resolving invoice queries, and maintaining accurate records. Assisting with posting cash receipts to the sales ledger. Reconciling the bank and credit card statements on a weekly basis. Support with month-end close. Maintaining and reconciling the purchase ledger, including invoice processing and supplier statement reconciliation. Credit Control Produce weekly stock-values and slow-mover reports Assist with quarterly VAT returns Support with posting journals, credit notes and expense claims. Providing wider administrative support to the finance team and occasional office cover when required. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: To succeed in this role, you will ideally have: Previous experience in transactional finance, wishing to grow. Working knowledge of Xero A proactive, flexible, and hands-on approach to work. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.
