We're looking for an experienced Analytical Chemistry Development Manager to lead our Analytical Development team, providing technical leadership, mentoring scientists, and driving the successful delivery of method development and validation programmes for our clients. The Role Analytical Chemistry Development Manager Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll lead a team of Development Scientists and Senior Development Scientists, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest scientific, quality and commercial standards. As the technical authority for the department, you'll provide expert guidance on analytical method development and validation activities, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and professional growth. You'll also work closely with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders, contributing to business development activities and supporting the growth of Broughton's analytical capabilities. As our Analytical Chemistry Development Manager you will: Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for analytical method development, optimisation and validation projects. Lead, mentor and develop a team of scientists, supporting both technical capability and career progression. Manage departmental workload, resources and priorities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Review and approve technical documentation, including methods, protocols, reports and validation studies. Interpret and communicate scientific data, drawing robust conclusions and recommendations. Support the development of sampling and testing strategies for regulatory submissions and scientific programmes. Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, capability and service delivery. Build strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted scientific adviser and technical lead. Support commercial activities through technical proposals, client meetings and scientific presentations. Contribute to scientific publications, conferences and industry engagement activities. Manage relationships with external laboratories and third-party providers. About You You'll be an experienced analytical scientist with a strong background in regulated laboratory environments and a proven ability to lead technical teams. We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate: A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline (PhD desirable). Significant experience in analytical method development and validation within a regulated laboratory environment. Expertise in GC-MS and/or LC-MS, with a broader understanding of chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques. Strong knowledge of ICH, USP, EP and relevant analytical validation requirements. Experience reviewing technical documentation and supporting regulatory submissions. Excellent scientific writing, communication and problem-solving skills. Experience leading, mentoring and developing scientists. Commercial awareness and an understanding of client-focused service delivery. The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional scientific standards. Experience supporting audits, inspections, method transfers and laboratory capacity planning would be advantageous. Our Lab Technician is a non-scientific role supporting to work of our labs team to facilitate the smooth running of the laboratory. Principally responsible for laboratory housekeeping activities and supporting to ensure the timely completion of analyses. Key skills for this role are attention to detail, ability to carefully follow instructions, and pride in the work you do. This is an on-site role at Earby, BB18. Responsibilities / Objectives Supporting laboratory teams in day-to-day tasks Performing some physical tests on client samples Performing laboratory housekeeping Ensuring compliance with regulations Registering client samples Key tasks Manage the availability of clean glassware Perform routine stocktakes and follow the KANBAN process to ensure purchased stock or reagents are ordered in time for testing schedules Booking chemicals and consumables in and out, ensuring records are accurate Booking and registering client samples Notify the appropriate team member of any equipment and consumable requirements deemed necessary to ensure minimum disruption to laboratory operations Maintain and understand the QMS, produce any quality documents in accordance with data integrity requirements Perform LabHQ sample submission and registration for prompt delivery to the laboratory for analysis Control sample receipt and reconciliation against client submissions Perform routine archive of client samples Perform preparation of high demand diluents and other solutions as required by test methods and procedures Perform some physical chemistry testing/operate vaping simulation hardware Some travel between sites to support with stability and archive activities as an when required Supporting the laboratory team as required Performing other duties as and when required by the business Qualifications and Education Requirements GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths - required. GCSE or equivalent in a Science related subject with a desire to learn the workings of an analytical laboratory - preferred.
