Finishing Operative / Plating Technician Salary: £15 per hour Location: Birmingham Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time We are recruiting for a Finishing Operative to join a busy manufacturing finishing department producing high-quality decorative finished hardware accessories. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing, production, plating, chemical, or industrial experience. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. The role involves working within a plating environment using acids, alkalis, and specialist process chemicals, so applicants must be comfortable working in an industrial setting and following strict health and safety procedures. The Role As a Finishing Operative, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining plating line equipment while ensuring products meet required quality standards. Duties will include: Operating and maintaining various equipment within the plating line Safely measuring and adding chemicals to process baths in line with procedures Setting and maintaining finishing process equipment and solutions within operational parameters Inspecting products for defects and ensuring conformance to specifications Carrying out general housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and organised department Supporting preventative maintenance activities, including vat clean-downs Following safe manual handling procedures, including lifting and carrying jigs and components Ensuring correct PPE is worn at all times within the plating area Completing process and safety paperwork accurately Supporting the wider team and carrying out other reasonable duties when required Skills & Experience We are looking for someone who: Has experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, finishing, plating, or a chemical environment (preferred) Can read and understand health and safety information, including safety/process documentation Has basic computer skills and can complete routine paperwork accurately Has good attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work Is reliable, practical, and willing to learn Is comfortable working in an industrial environment with chemicals and strict safety procedures Working Environment This role involves working within a plating and finishing department using acids, alkalis, and process chemicals. Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding role involving lifting and moving jigs to and from plating baths and jigging areas, standing for periods of time, and carrying out manual handling tasks. Quality Assurance Engineer Location: Birmingham Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience) About the Role We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in metal machining environments and a solid background in quality control systems, inspection, and continuous improvement. This role plays a key part in ensuring that products meet the highest standards of precision, durability, and finish. Key Responsibilities Product Inspection & Testing Inspect machined components for defects and ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. Perform testing and validation against defined quality standards. Process Monitoring Monitor production processes using established SOPs. Identify deviations and implement corrective actions promptly. Quality Documentation Develop, update, and maintain quality documentation including: Inspection procedures Test plans Quality control guidelines Process documentation Root Cause Analysis Investigate product defects using structured problem-solving methods. Develop and implement corrective and preventative action plans (CAPA). Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues. Experience producing technical documentation for manufacturing teams. Desirable (Not Essential) Experience with Autodesk Vault. Knowledge of SAP and document control systems (e.g., Vault). Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline. Hands-on experience within shop floor machining environments. Experience within hardware manufacturing. Overview The Goods Inwards Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming goods and recording results on the Quality Management System (QMS). The role also includes supporting Non-Conformance Report (NCR) activities, maintaining quality documentation, and carrying out internal system audits. The role reports to the Production & Quality Manager and works with the Quality Assurance team, Production, Purchasing, and Design departments. Prepare surfaces (cleaning, masking, shotblasting, and priming) prior to coating. Mix and apply coatings accurately in accordance with specifications. Operate and maintain spray equipment, booths, and curing ovens. Conduct quality checks to ensure coating thickness, adhesion, and finish meet requirements. Requirements: Minimum 5 years proven experience in powder coating and wet spraying. Strong understanding of coating preparation, application, and curing processes. Ability to read and follow technical drawings and specifications. Good eye for detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes. An established metal recycling company based in the Stratford upon Avon area requires an experienced 360 material handler, grab driver. Duties: Operating a 360-material handler with grab attachment to load and move scrap material around the site. General yard duties. Requirements: A valid 10 ton plus 360 material handler licence with lifting operations Scrapyard or recycling experience would be an advantage. Willing to do overtime as required. Own transport required due to company location. Hours: 5 pm to 2 am Monday to Friday. (Evening shift) Overtime is available in the week and weekends.
