ABI unit - Manton Heights We are a small neuro rehabilitation unit called the ABI unit in Bedford area, for patients with Strokes and brain injuries. the patients stay at the unit for 6-12weeks and receive rehabilitation from our therapy team. Duties will include: Helping residents with their daily activities like washing, dressing, eating. Being a caring and friendly companion to help our patients while on their 6-12week stay at the abi unit. Supporting the seniors to ensure residents are kept safe, clean, healthy and empowered to make their own choices. Supporting the therapy team with progressing patients and promoting impendence. Previous experience is not essential, although if you have worked in care before that is also great. This is a bank contract.

Key Responsibilities: Preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for residents, ensuring presentation and taste meet high standards. Plan menus that meet residents dietary requirements, preferences, and medical needs (e.g., soft diets, allergies, diabetic-friendly options). Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, complying with food safety regulations at all times. Ensure food is prepared and stored correctly, following HACCP procedures. Support the smooth running of mealtimes, including food service when required. Stock control, rotation, and ordering under the Head Chef s guidance. About You: Experience in a similar kitchen or catering assistant role (care setting preferred but not essential). Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum). Passion for cooking and a genuine interest in working with older people. Ability to work in a team and take direction well. Good communication skills and a friendly, patient manner. To ensure dining areas are well presented appropriately for each meal with adequate equipment for each service. To encourage Residents to participate in preparing dining areas and meal service. Ensuring all feedback is sought and communicated effectively and efficiently to relevant stakeholders. Providing residents with room service and regular opportunities for refreshment. To ensure all food and beverage areas are compliant with HACCP and food safety. To ensure all documentation is complete in relation to food service and delivery. To monitor and audit the Resident experience, contributing to the improvement of standards. Communicating stock levels to the Head Chef of crockery, utensils and provisions ensuring sufficient stock levels are made.
