If you've developed recent experience of service delivery and service improvement to commercial operations owned by public sector bodies, this Commercial Improvement Manager role is an opportunity to help put those skills into practice and have a real impact on the delivery of important services and help generate important income for the local community. You are likely to be familiar with how different commercial entities operate, and have worked on and with improvement plans in conjunction with service delivery teams to drive specific outcome improvement. You will hit the ground running - working directly with service leaders and operational teams to deliver practical improvement plans that strengthen performance and support financial sustainability. Key Responsibilities Identify and deliver improvement opportunities across commercial service areas Lead service redesign and performance improvement initiatives Diagnose and address barriers to delivery, supporting teams through change Challenge existing ways of working constructively and drive adoption of new approaches What We Need Proven track record in business change, service improvement, or commercial transformation Experience delivering in complex, pressurised environments - across sectors is a plus Confident communicator, credible with senior leaders and frontline teams alike Resilient, methodical, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery Available to commit to 1 day per week in the Midlands office To express interest, please submit your CV and a brief note on your relevant experience.

An opportunity to work for a large Local Authority who have been developing across-the-board Financial Improvement plans and help embed better practices by understanding the key elements of the plans, being able to share the benefits of the changes through workshops, with teams and directly one-on-one, and monitor, record and evidence the important progress against set deadlines. You may have worked directly in an L&D role, or been part of a large change/improvement programme in Finance before - but the key experience needed is the ability to engage finance professionals through good, consistent communication, relationship development and a healthy focus on delivery. You will work with managers and teams to embed new ways of working, develop practical guidance and learning resources, and drive consistent, high-quality financial management practice - from day one. Ambient People is recruiting an interim Senior Finance Officer for Treasury for a London local authority. Key responsibilities include managing daily treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, investment and borrowing records, treasury reporting, debt portfolio support, and the completion of statutory and regulatory returns. The role involves working closely with treasury brokers, advisers and colleagues across the Council to support effective treasury management. The postholder will contribute to the Treasury Management Strategy and related plans, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, treasury procedures and relevant accounting standards. You must be free to take up this post by the end of July 2026 and be able to work two days per week from the office.
