Quality Assurance Engineer - Mechanical Erection Tier 1 Global Energy Infrastructure Contractor Energy from Waste Project Mechanical & Electrical Bias Permanent: Up to £70,000 + Package We are currently searching for a Quality Assurance Engineer for a landmark Energy from Waste project based in East London. This project will deliver a £1.5bn state-of-the-art Energy Recovery Facility which will serve up to 180,000 homes through direct power production and district heating networks. As Quality Assurance Engineer you will be focusing on the Mechanical package for the scheme. The role: Lead and carry out QC inspections on mechanical erection works, including water wall panels, boiler pressure parts, and structural components Ensure all installation activities comply with IFC drawings, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) Witness and record key inspections such as fit-ups, alignment checks, bolting/torquing, and welding activities (including PWHT) Conduct material receiving inspections and verify vendor documentation and certification Enforce compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) Verify welder qualifications and oversee all welding-related quality controls Coordinate and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) and approve reports Maintain accurate and traceable quality documentation, including inspection reports, material certs, welding logs, and test records Manage RFIs, NCRs, and corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution and compliance Support testing and commissioning, supervise subcontractor quality, and assist with audits while promoting strong quality and safety standards Required: Minimum 5 years of experience working on Mechanical Erection on Power Generation, industrial plants, boilers, Heat Recovery Steam Generator. Strong understanding of international codes and standards. Excellent documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work independently on site in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills with subcontractors, clients, and third parties. High attention to detail and problem-solving capability. Proficient in MS Office and QA/QC documentation systems.
