As Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation remains compliant with statutory and regulatory obligations across property safety and building compliance. Working closely with internal teams and external contractors, you will help deliver an effective compliance programme that puts resident safety at the heart of everything. Key Responsibilities Monitor statutory compliance across key areas including gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene (Legionella) and lifts. Schedule, track and monitor compliance inspections, servicing and remedial works. Ensure all compliance records, certification and documentation are accurate, up to date and audit-ready. Liaise with contractors to ensure inspections and works are completed within agreed timescales. Monitor contractor performance and escalate any compliance risks or overdue actions. Produce compliance reports and performance information for managers and stakeholders. Support internal and external audits and assist with regulatory inspections. Work collaboratively with colleagues across Property Services and Asset Management to maintain high levels of compliance. Respond to resident enquiries relating to compliance and building safety where required. Ensure all activities are carried out in line with relevant legislation, organisational policies and health and safety requirements. About You The successful candidate will have: Previous experience in a Compliance Officer, Property Compliance or Building Safety role within a Housing Association, Local Authority or social housing environment. A good understanding of statutory compliance within residential property. Knowledge of compliance areas including gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos, Legionella and lifts. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong administrative skills and experience maintaining accurate compliance records. Confidence communicating with contractors, colleagues and residents. Good analytical skills with experience producing compliance reports and monitoring performance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using housing management or compliance management systems. A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to resident safety. Experience managing a residential portfolio with confidence dealing directly with clients, leaseholders, residents, and contractors. Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
