As one of our First Fix engineers, you'll be responsible for the layout and installation of gate posts, ground rails, ducting, and other ground-related works, including pulling cables through ducts. This role mixes manual labour with mechanised groundworks, leveraging your mini digger skills to boost efficiency and cut physical strain on sites with enough space-though not all jobs allow it, so hands-on adaptability is key. Key Responsibilities: Perform groundworks and first-fix installations on automated gates, barriers, bollards, and garage doors, using a mini digger where site conditions permit to minimise manual effort Handle any other duties the company deems you competent for as a First Fix engineer Occasionally assist Second Fix and Service Engineers with their tasks General Duties: Attend in-house and manufacturer training sessions Follow Health & Safety guidelines to ensure personal and team safety Communicate job progress with the operations team Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues Represent the company positively on every site Personal Requirements: Full/valid manual driving licence Valid licence for mini excavator operation (essential-CPCS/NPORS for below 10 tonnes preferred) At least 1 year of experience in a similar ground working-based role. Able to use spirit levels and laser levels, general hand tools, generators, and handheld ground breakers. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Able to read basic site and installation drawings. Logical problem-solving skills. Technical aptitude. Enthusiastic, adaptable, and ready for a challenge. Able to plan and work independently. Competent communicator, willing to liaise with staff and clients. Respects others and has a positive attitude toward diversity. Willingness to learn and build on existing skills. Working to high standards with attention to detail. Basic welding skills preferred but not essential. Working Conditions & Benefits: This is a full-time position, consisting of 40 hours per week including a 30-minute lunch break. The working hours are primarily Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:30. The successful candidate may be required to work beyond these hours if the job demands it. The role is primarily based in the field, with occasional work required at the company's office or other locations as needed.
