Children s Social Worker Fully Office-Based Pay: up to £35 per hour 35 hours per week Free On-Site Parking Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Children s Social Worker to join our frontline services on a full-time basis. This is a fully office-based role where you ll be working directly with children and young families, supporting them across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children services. You will carry an average caseload of 16 children , ensuring that your time and focus can be dedicated to delivering a high-quality and child-focused service. Key Responsibilities: Undertake assessments, planning, and interventions for children in need, child protection, and looked after children Manage pre-proceedings and work confidently within legal frameworks, including private and public law, and adoption proceedings Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court and contribute to planning for permanency Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory and departmental requirements Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children What You ll Need: Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration Previous frontline experience in CIN, CP, and LAC services Strong knowledge of pre-proceedings and legal frameworks Must be a car driver with a full UK driving licence Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills Contract Details: Pay: up to £35 per hour Hours: 35 per week, Monday Friday, 08 30 Fully office-based role Free on-site parking For more information about this role, contact Ellis Russell at Sheldon Phillips: (phone number removed) (url removed) Refer a friend and earn £300 if we place them! Position: Independent Reviewing Officer Team: Looked After Children Pay Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella) Location: Yorkshire Working Pattern: Hybrid minimum of 3 days office-based Sheldon Phillips are working with a Local Authority in Yorkshire who are seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join their Looked After Children service on a temporary basis until the end of December. This role is focused exclusively on Looked After Children and does not include chairing child protection conferences . What You Can Expect: Supportive and established team with strong leadership Flexible working pattern with hybrid arrangements Opportunity to contribute to service improvement and quality assurance within the LAC service Duties and Responsibilities: Chair Looked After Children (LAC) reviews in line with statutory requirements Monitor care plans to ensure they meet the needs and best interests of the child Challenge and escalate concerns where drift or delay is identified Work collaboratively with social workers, managers, and external partners to ensure effective care planning Provide professional oversight and contribute to continuous service development Ensure compliance with statutory duties and the IRO Handbook Requirements: SWE Registration Social Work qualification Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience within a local authority Substantial experience working with Looked After Children and families Proven ability to chair complex meetings and manage multi-agency dynamics In-depth understanding of Care Planning Regulations and the statutory duties of an IRO If you re an experienced practitioner looking to take on a short-term role with a strong focus on improving outcomes for Looked After Children, we d love to hear from you.
