Job Overview Our client is a well established client focused building contractor working across East Anglia. They are looking for an Assistant Site Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will ideally be based within the surrounding area of Cambridge. Responsibilities Work closely with the site manager to oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities. Assist in managing subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to ensure project milestones are met. Help maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Monitor project progress, quality control, and adherence to construction plans and specifications. Support in scheduling, resource management, and budget control for construction projects. Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and clients, to ensure project success. Provide administrative support, documentation, and reporting as required. Requirements: Eagerness to learn and grow in the commercial construction industry. Some previous construction experience is essential, but prior assistant site manager experience is not required. Knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and terminology is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Enthusiasm for problem-solving, learning new skills, and taking on responsibilities. Understanding of health and safety practices in the construction field. Proficiency in basic computer skills and willingness to learn construction management software.

Project Surveyor Location: Site-based Reports to: Commercial Director About the Role We are seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to support the site commercial team in managing costs, procurement, reporting, and contracts. This role will play a key part in ensuring the financial wellbeing and profitability of projects. Key Responsibilities Manage project costs and contracts Oversee sub-contracts and notifications Monitor spend against budgets for labour and materials Prepare and assemble monthly payment applications Provide quotations for out-of-scope works Carry out cost/value exercises and provide cost advice Support operational teams with budgets and claims Produce data reporting and forecasting against KPIs Contribute to commercial awareness within the wider team Health & Safety Work in line with site procedures and safety policies Ensure correct use of PPE and report any defects Actively contribute to a safe working environment Skills & Experience Required Essential: Relevant degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel Excellent communication and reporting skills Leadership ability and team collaboration Analytical and data presentation skills Ability to work under pressure and in fast-paced environments Desirable: Knowledge of SAP or similar software Understanding of NEC Form of Contracts
