Raw Materials Specifications Technologist Food Manufacturing, Leeds As this leading international food business continues its successful journey of growth driven by innovation, it has an opening for a Raw Materials Specifications Technologist to join its high-performing team within a complex and dynamic food manufacturing business. Essentially, the role of Raw Materials Specifications Technologist is exactly that! It is all about raw materials and the management of raw materials technical data and information - to validate raw material data received from suppliers to enable retailer specifications to be produced in a timely manner; and, to work as part of the specifications team ensuring the Company s specification systems are continually updated and maintained to meet the requirements of both the British Retail Consortium certification, industry standards and customer requirements. Finished Good Specifications are not part of this role, as these are covered by another member of the team. Responsibilities include To ensure that all Company quality parameters and procedures are complied with and that all products manufactured meet the required standards and specifications. To facilitate with Procurement raw material projects e.g. raw material shortages, by coordinating customer approvals. To co-ordinate customer raw material & product sampling, to gain customer approval for raw material changes & short turn around projects. To assess raw material specification data against Company and retailer requirements, requesting further detail and clarification from suppliers where necessary before approving it for use to produce finished product specifications. To complete finished product specifications for retailer and branded products, ensuring accurate information is provided for customer use and on pack information. To be responsible for integrating raw material changes to finished goods specifications. To work closely with a range of internal departments and suppliers to gather information, and to interpret this data to complete specifications in compliance with Company standards. To conduct reviews of artwork to ensure accuracy of legal labelling information. To update the Company s specifications database. To keep updated with current and forthcoming legislation to ensure that the Company s products conform to relevant legal requirements. To work with the Company s internal recipe management system and customer web-based systems. To work with the Senior technical team in relation to supplier audits. To take part in the supplier approval process and assessing approval documentation To take an active role in continuously developing your skills and knowledge. About You Essentially you will have experience in manufacturing and managing raw material technical data and information. Ideally food/drink/fmcg experience would be highly advantageous. Knowledge of Food Allergens and Risk Assessment would be beneficial also, as well as experience of working with raw materials and all associated technical data and relevant administrative systems and portals. Attention to detail is key, as is excellent communication skills and project management skills. Equally important is your ability to work at pace in a busy manufacturing environment. You must be able to commute to the factory, based in Leeds, 4 days a week, with typically one day a week working from home. Please note, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
