Job Title: Management Accountant Location: Clitheroe Salary: £45,000 £55,000 (depending on experience) Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday About Us We are a well-established SME precision engineering firm based in Clitheroe, supplying high-quality engineered products and solutions to a broad range of sectors. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to strengthen our finance function and support strategic decision-making across the company. Role Overview Reporting directly to the Managing Director, You will play a key role in producing accurate financial information, improving internal reporting, and supporting operational teams with meaningful financial insight. This is a hands-on role within a small finance team, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and taking ownership of the monthly accounts process. Key Responsibilities Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and commentary. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections, working closely with operational and commercial teams. Monitor and analyse manufacturing performance, job costing, materials usage, labour efficiency, and overhead absorption. Maintain accurate standard/ actual costing and support continuous review of costings, margins, and product profitability. Support stock control processes, including stock valuations, investigation of variances, and improvement initiatives. Oversee payroll data preparation and liaise with the external payroll provider. Support the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants/ auditors Assist with development of internal controls, financial processes, and reporting dashboards to improve business performance Provide financial insight to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements Ad hoc analysis and project support, including CAPEX appraisals, pricing reviews, and financial modelling. Supervise the processing of transactional finance tasks, with occasional hands-on entry of both sales and purchase ledger data when required. Required Skills & Experience Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) Experience within an SME environment; prior exposure to precision engineering or similar technical manufacturing sectors is highly advantageous. Strong understanding of costing, stock, WIP, and manufacturing processes. Excellent Excel skills and experience working with ERP or MRP systems. High attention to detail and strong analytical ability. Clear and confident communication skills, able to work effectively with non-finance colleagues. Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently within a small team. Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
