Due to an increase in demand, we are looking to hire 8 Trainee Welders to join a 6 month training programme to expand their production team. As one of the successful candidates, you will be trained in MIG Welding for their largest weld area, manufacturing the main body of the road sweepers. In addition to the standard requirement, there may be opportunity to learn how to use their robot welders or TIG welding. Please read the whole job description before making an application. About you To be successful within the role of Trainee Welder, you will have a keen interest in production or manufacturing, excellent hand to eye coordination and be a team player, with good communication skills which are so important in the learning environment and within the workshop facility. Specific Requirements for the role: Understanding of maths and the ability to read, write and communicate in English. Good problem solving skills and great hand eye coordination with a steady hand. Physically able to carry out manual work. Ability to work shift patterns. Can get to work in Dorking without using public transport. In return the Trainee Welder will receive: A basic salary of £12.77 per hour (eq. £26.561.60 per year) Shift bonus increases pay by 20% 25 Days Holiday Life assurance, Pension, Company Bonus Following the training / probation period of 6 months, this wage will increase £14.21 per hour. Important Note Shift Work The welding team work a two shift work pattern of rotating early and late shifts. Due to the timings of these shifts, people need to be able to commute to the Manufacturing facility without relying on public transport. This exciting role involves hands-on vehicle preparation, instrumentation, testing, and validation of cutting-edge driver assistance and diagnostic systems. Key Responsibilities Prepare, build, maintain, and instrument vehicles in line with engineering standards and procedures. Carry out testing in dynamic driving conditions to capture accurate and reliable data. Support evaluation and issue identification in close collaboration with Test Engineers. Set up instrumentation including cameras, radar, and ADAS logging systems. Acquire and analyse data, compiling reports to support engineering teams. Assist with harness fabrication/repair and interpret technical drawings. Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver projects on time and to high quality. Skills & Experience Required Strong knowledge of vehicle assembly, disassembly, and maintenance techniques. Minimum of 3 years driving experience with a full UK licence (LHD/European driving experience and additional driving qualifications advantageous).
