Your New Role We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Site Supervisor (Clerk of Works) to join our Network Management Contract on our North East (NMC NE) account . This role is based in Aberdeen . Our NMC account was awarded to us in August 2022 to support Transport Scotland. Your New Role We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Technician to join our M8 account in Glasgow . This is an onsite role, you must be able to travel to Polmadie, Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to essential highways projects with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Our M8 account is working in partnership with Scottish Roads since 2014, we are responsible for completing and upgrading motorway networks and trunk roads in central Scotland. We have this far completed 30 kilometres of motorway network between Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as 12 kilometres of new build road and 16 kilometres of network upgrades. This has resulted of the works being undertaken the new section of road between Glasgow and Edinburgh to help save up to 18 minutes off journeys at peak times for drivers travelling between the two cities. Our aim is to continue to maintain motorway networks and trunk roads through to 2047, to ensure we create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities. The Highways Technician plays an important part providing support and assistance to the team in all relevant aspects of investigation for Structural maintenance schemes, including site visual inspections, liaising with coring contractors and assisting with grip testing operations. You will be responsible for : Horticulture activities such as. planting, pruning and seeding Erecting and dismantling equipment Setting out, making sports pitches including grass and tarmac surfaces Upkeep of artificial and synthetic pitches Tree care Undertaking vehicle, tractor, and cutting equipment checks Weather dependant, carrying out site gritting and snow clearing activities We want to hear from you if you have: Full driving licence preferably with some trailer pulling experience General experience of grounds maintenance type duties Basic knowledge of gardening and horticulture In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience in the use of ride on mower equipment to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed. What You'll Do: • Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance. • Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills. • Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance. • Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system. • Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
