The role involves supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), most of whom are non-verbal, require some intimate care, and benefit from structured communication and interaction strategies. About the Role You will support a small group of pupils through a combination of 1:1 and small group work, with a focus on speech and language development and engagement. Your day-to-day will include: Using Intensive Interaction and other speech and language strategies to develop communication. Leading and supporting Bucket Time and sensory-based activities to build focus and participation. Supporting daily routines and transitions with calm and consistent strategies. Providing sensitive support with personal care when required. Working collaboratively with the SENCo, therapists, and class teacher to track progress and adapt strategies. Ideal Candidate Profile Experience supporting young children with high needs ASC, ideally in an Early Years or Reception setting. Understanding of non-verbal communication approaches and sensory regulation. A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach with excellent patience. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), particularly across Early Years and KS1.
