The Role We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Multi-Point Glue Operative to join our production team. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideal for someone with experience in gluing operations, packaging machinery, or similar industrial processes. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate multi-point gluing machines to ensure accurate High-quality product output Optimise and monitor machine performance, adjust settings and perform routine maintenance as needed Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications Troubleshoot issues and communicate with the maintenance team when necessary Maintain a clean and safe working environment Complete production records and follow company procedures To work safely in accordance with Smurfit Westrock procedures Skills, Experience & Qualifications Previous experience operating multi-point glue machines (preferred) Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets Comfortable working to deadlines and production targets Strong teamwork and communication skills The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate and value safe working and be able to communicate effectively throughout our business including suppliers. Location & Hours We are hiring a Mutti Point Gluer Operator working a continental 12hour rota shift pattern at our industry leading conversion plant on junction 29a of the M1. We re looking for a motivated Design Apprentice to join our Design Team at SW Diss (located in Pulham St Mary). The Role This apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corrugated packaging design. As our Design Apprentice, you will support the Design Team by undertaking a range of routine tasks as well as undertaking a BSc (Hons) in Packaging Design and Technology through Sheffield Hallum University. You will apply the skills and knowledge developed throughout the apprenticeship programme under appropriate supervision and as the apprenticeship progresses, take on a wider variety of tasks. This is a hands on role where you will be learning at the same time as carrying out a variety of tasks associated with the design of corrugated packaging. This role is physically demanding, requiring the moving, cutting and packing for shipment of materials on a daily basis. As an apprentice, you'll assist in developing packaging concepts, creating prototypes, and collaborating with various teams from concept to production, ensuring functionality, cost-efficiency, and sustainability. Main Duties Design & Development : Assist in designing and developing corrugated packaging solutions for a variety of products. Prototyping : Work with the design team to create prototypes and samples, operate a digital CNC Cutter, and ensure all samples meet design and functional criteria. Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed records of sample specifications, adjustments, and customer feedback. Ensure proper storage, tracking, and dispatch of physical samples. Collaboration : Work with production and engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards. Learning & Development : Gain an understanding of machine capabilities, learn to use CAD software, and understand the properties and best uses of raw materials. Supplier Liaison : Liaise with tool manufacturers and suppliers to obtain costings for new projects and support the artwork process coordination. Research & Development : Contribute to the research and development of sustainable packaging materials and techniques. Client Interaction : Participate in client meetings to discuss design requirements and present design concepts. Other Role Requirements Due to the location of the role, it is likely that this would primarily appeal to those with access to their own transport as public transport links are minimal. The successful applicant will also need to have the flexibility to travel to attend studies and occasionally visit customers. About You Essential: General knowledge and use of computer systems and software. Day to Day Responsibilities Load and unload freight in an efficient and safe manner, recording all necessary paperwork Carry out loading and unloading tasks using Fork Lift. Load all vehicles with correct goods as per picking list. Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing and other miscellaneous tasks as needed. Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently while meeting productivity and quality expectations. Carry out checks on fork trucks before your shift commences; report any faults. Move items around the warehouse using pallet truck, forklift truck. Check product for accuracy in inventory, damage and infestation and complete paperwork. General housekeeping of work area and stock taking of goods in the warehouse. To ensure the highest quality of work is produced and waste is kept to a minimum. To report any non-conformities to the Supervisor or Team Leader immediately. Keeping yard and compactor area clean and tidy, completing & storing relevant hygiene and cleaning records. To work in accordance with all company certifications. Actively engage and participate in all elements of Health and Safety requirements, whilst utilising the Health and Safety systems available. Skills, Knowledge & Experience Hold a valid FLT licence and have awareness of current H&S requirements. Good team player as well as ability to work on their own initiative.
