JOB TITLE: Production Operative BUSINESS/DEPARTMENT: Production REPORTS TO: Production Manager BASE LOCATION: Chorley COMPANY OVERVIEW Our client is working with a leading manufacturer in Chorley. OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB Produce orders on time to the right quality Operate and maintain machinery Ensure smooth and efficient production Adhere to health & safety protocols REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This role reports to the Production Manager KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform daily start-up and health & safety checks on production equipment Undertake work orders generated by the internal sales team Follow operational procedures and production timelines Operate and set up machines Clean machinery before and after use; maintain a clean work area and report any hazards or near misses Adhere to all health and safety regulations when operating machinery and handling products to ISO standards Inform management of any faulty machinery or production issues Inspect parts for quality and tolerance; report any discrepancies before proceeding Follow correct waste recycling processes where appropriate Use hand tools as required Assist with subassembly of relevant parts when necessary Perform other duties as required within capability (training provided for upskilling) JOB DIMENSIONS / SCOPE Based at Preston production site KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Excellent health & safety awareness Strong attention to detail Good communication, decision-making, and time management skills Strong numerical and IT skills (essential) Willingness to learn FLT counterbalance license preferred but not essential Experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred but not essential RELATING TO PEOPLE INTERNALLY Sales Team Finance Team Production Team Production Manager Operations Manager Quality and Safety Team RELATING TO PEOPLE EXTERNALLY Suppliers Customers Couriers KEY COMPETENCIES / CAPABILITIES Proactive problem-solving approach Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift Manual handling awareness Ability to follow key instructions based on job specifications Good communication skills across departments ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Flexibility to work in different production areas during workload peaks and to cover holidays/sickness to meet targets EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES Our client is proud to be an inclusive employer committed to creating a diverse environment.
