Fortress Recruit is currently seeking an experienced Contract Systems Engineer, outside of IR35, to support a leading defence engineering organisation based in Poole. This contract will support several major naval defence programmes, with a particular focus on maintaining and developing system documentation and electrical design information across complex shipboard systems. We're looking for an experienced Systems Engineer who is comfortable working with electrical system documentation, cable schedules and engineering drawings, whilst supporting wider systems engineering activities across customer projects. Key responsibilities will include: Producing and maintaining system documentation throughout the engineering lifecycle Creating and updating cable diagrams, wire diagrams and terminal block drawings Producing electrical schematics using SolidWorks Electrical or DraftSight Supporting configuration control and engineering change activities Maintaining drawing libraries and engineering documentation Working closely with Systems, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to ensure technical accuracy Supporting customer projects across naval and defence programmes Contributing to system integration, design reviews and technical documentation where required To be considered for this role, you'll have: Previous experience as a Systems Engineer within defence, maritime or another highly regulated engineering environment Strong experience producing engineering documentation for electrical or electronic systems Experience creating cable diagrams, wire diagrams, terminal block drawings and electrical schematics Working knowledge of SolidWorks Electrical or DraftSight (desirable) An understanding of configuration control and engineering change A logical approach to systems engineering and problem solving Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement) This is an excellent opportunity to support long term defence programmes within a collaborative engineering team, working on complex naval systems whilst providing key engineering support across multiple customer projects.
