The Role As a Civils Operative, you will support a wide range of site-based activities, including excavation, pipe laying, manhole construction, and general site duties. Working under the guidance of a Civils Supervisor, you will be part of a dedicated team delivering critical projects to the highest standards. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain sites, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are available. Carry out excavation, trenching, pipe laying, and manhole construction. Backfill and compact ground to stabilise works. Support safe use of plant, tools, and machinery, reporting issues promptly. Follow all health and safety procedures, attending briefings and toolbox talks. Work closely with supervisors and team members to deliver projects safely and on time. Assist in emergency works, such as sewer bursts or leaks. Candidate Requirements Experience in civils, utilities, or groundworks advantageous but not essential. Knowledge of using hand tools, power tools, and small plant equipment. Strong focus on health and safety with a proactive approach. Reliable, hardworking, and able to follow instructions. Willingness to work in challenging outdoor and confined space conditions. CSCS card and confined spaces training desirable (training can be provided).
