Senior Power Systems Engineer - This role has been created to assist in the continuing growth of our clients electrical power network design and consultancy services. They undertake the design of contestable electrical networks associated with new connections and the design of private wire networks for Generation and Demand customers. You will be responsible for the following: Undertaking the design and specification of electrical distribution networks and substations from LV to 132kV and associated equipment for new connections and private wire networks. This will include: Specifying cables. Undertaking cable sizing and thermal rating calculations. Producing cable route drawings. Producing Legal plans for required easements, substation leases etc; Specifying electrical LV,11kV,33kV and 132kV switchgear. Designing and specifying protection schemes. Specifying transformers and where necessary associated protection schemes. Specifying and sizing Current transformer and Voltage transformers. Specifying LV switchgear / fusegear. Specifying and sizing Battery Chargers. Producing Single Line Diagrams. Producing secondary designs e.g. multicore block wiring diagrams and associated multi core wiring interface drawings. Undertaking the design of LV networks. Undertaking the design of the small power and lighting required for a substation. Specifying auxiliary equipment required for substations. e.g. sump pumps, emergency tripping schemes. Assessing manufacturers drawing to ensure compliance with the design produced. Liaising with equipment suppliers. Liaising with the DNO's / iDNO's regarding their requirements and specifications and obtaining the information required to undertake designs. Producing Engineering and Design reports for each design. Assisting with Earthing designs. Assisting the civil design team regarding the electrical aspects of the substation design. Efficiently programme and manage the delivery of your work. Ensuring designs are undertaken in compliance with the Internal Management System. Ensuring designs are undertaken in compliance with relevant DNO, iDNO, National / International Standards and legislation, and contract specifications. Ensuring designs are undertaken with due regard to Health, Safety & Environmental Procedures, and production of Designer Risk Assessments, as necessary, to fulfil the Company's obligations in compliance with current CDM regulations. Ensuring management and clients are kept up to date with progress on projects. Ensuring UCE's client's expectations are met and where possible exceeded on the quality of services provided. A skilled Electrical Design Engineer with experience of designing Transformers, Switchgear or other Power Transmission and Distribution equipment is sought by a growing engineering company in the Leicestershire area . About The Role In this pivotal role, you'll contribute to the design of electrical equipment for industrial applications. Your responsibilities will include implementing electrical best practices, adhering to industry standards, and collaborating with the design team to create innovative solutions. The successful candidate should have hands-on design experience and a solid grasp of electrical engineering principles, along with basic knowledge of mechanical design. Principal responsibilities include: Participate in research, development, and product testing Review design requirements and produce design calculations and production documentation Apply relevant design, regulatory, and industry standards. Produce electrical wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and corresponding component layouts. Oversee the CE marking process on new designs including performing DFMEAs. Conduct technical investigations, perform root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actions. Provide technical support to Production, Sales, Service, and Customer Support. Deliver projects on schedule and within budget, managing a complex workload efficiently. Identify and apply new industry-wide processes within the company. About You The ideal candidate will have several years electrical design experience, preferably some with machinery design and ideally be qualified to degree level in electrical engineering. You will need experience of designing in accordance with IEC 60204 and IEC 61439, the product CE marking process and DFMEA. A high level of competency with Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical is required and some experience of a CAD software package such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo, Siemens would be an advantage. A Contract Site Quality Engineer with a strong background in Electrical Engineering and Infrastructure / Construction projects is sought to work on a series of ongoing projects The initial project will involve providing on-site support for upcoming Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and the close-out of Inspection Test Plan (ITP) activities across Saltley for electrical installation. You will also raise WIRs on the system, issue invites, and manage QA evidence online.
