Job Advertisement: Quality Control Lead NLS are seeking an experienced Quality Control Lead to join a chemical manufacturing organisation. The QC scientist will take on a pivotal role in managing the QC / analytical laboratory supporting chemical production and development. Responsibilities Oversee the operations of the QC Laboratory. Lead, mentor, and train QC Analysts. Manage laboratory costs and stock levels, identifying opportunities for savings while ensuring operational efficiency. Conduct precise testing of raw materials, intermediates, and final products using GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF, and titrations. Review and interpret analytical data to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards. Develop, update, and validate analytical methods and specifications to maintain robust and repeatable processes. Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on laboratory equipment, including GCs, HPLCs, and gas generators. Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors for preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs. Provide technical support to Production and R&D teams. Author and review technical documentation, including SOPs, Work Instructions, and quality policies. Manage quality records, non-conformances, and compliance reports, driving Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring audit readiness and compliance with quality standards. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance laboratory capabilities and support company growth. Qualifications BSc in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a related life science discipline. 5+ years of relevant experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing Proficiency in operating GC, HPLC, KF, FTIR, titrations. Basic knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting for laboratory equipment. Familiarity with COSHH regulations and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems. Strong problem-solving and instrument troubleshooting skills. Proven expertise in a QC laboratory within the fine chemical or pharmaceutical sectors. Demonstrated experience in mentoring and training of analysts. Benefits Competitive salary up to 45,000.
