Trainee Operations Technician Power Station Competitive salary + benefits Rotherham, South Yorkshire SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Trainee Operations Technician to join a biomass power station near Rotherham, South Yorkshire. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career within the power generation sector. The role would suit a candidate who has recently completed an engineering apprenticeship, or someone with an engineering-related degree or qualification who is keen to gain hands-on experience in a live power station environment. The successful candidate will work as part of a shift operations team, supporting the safe, reliable and efficient running of the plant. Full training will be provided, with the opportunity to develop knowledge of power generation, plant operations, permit systems and control room processes. The role will involve: Monitoring plant performance and supporting day-to-day operations across the site Carrying out routine plant checks, inspections and basic operational tasks Supporting plant start-up, shutdown and operational changes Assisting with first-line fault finding and reporting plant defects Working closely with maintenance and engineering teams to support plant availability Learning how to operate plant systems safely and efficiently Updating operational logs, records and site documentation Working within site procedures, permits and health & safety requirements Supporting outage, shutdown and plant improvement activities where required Maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping To be considered for this role, you should have: A recently completed engineering apprenticeship, engineering qualification (BTEC, NVQ, HNC) or engineering-related degree A genuine interest in developing a career within power generation or renewable energy Some practical engineering knowledge, gained through work, study, placements or apprenticeship training A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a live operational environment Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a shift team A strong awareness of health, safety and site procedures Willingness to work a rotational shift pattern, including days and nights Experience in power generation, biomass, EfW, CHP, utilities, manufacturing, process plant or heavy industry would be beneficial, but is not essential. The Industrial Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities across multiple sites, ensuring maximum plant availability, reliability and safety.
