Sous Chef - Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations. The Sous Chef will help oversee food preparation, maintain quality standards, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure a clean and efficient working environment. This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to perform well under pressure. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise and train kitchen staff - Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation - Oversee food preparation and cooking techniques - Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation - Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies - Control food costs and minimize waste - Step in as acting Head Chef when required - Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations - Help develop new menu items and seasonal specials - Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations Required Skills & Qualifications - Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef - Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred - Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment - Leadership and team management skills - Excellent time management and organizational abilities - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Understanding of food safety regulations - Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Preferred Qualities - Creative and passionate about food - Strong communication skills - Problem-solving abilities - Attention to detail - Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Work Environment - Fast-paced commercial kitchen - Long hours standing and moving - Exposure to heat, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment Job Type: Full-time Pay: From £13.84 per hour Benefits: Company pension Discounted or free food Employee discount Work Location: In person
