Embedded Software Engineer Nicholas Howard are delighted to be recruiting for an Embedded Software Engineer to join a highly innovative and successful defence business. Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys developing software close to the hardware? Do you have a strong background in bare-metal embedded development and want to work on products where your code has a direct impact on real-world performance? We're looking for a talented engineer to join our clients Product Design team, developing innovative embedded systems from concept through to production. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects where bare-metal programming is a core part of the role , giving you the chance to work directly with microprocessors, peripherals and real-time control systems. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you'll be involved throughout the full product development lifecycle, designing and developing embedded software for advanced control and sensing applications. You'll also create Windows-based applications to support testing, configuration and product development. What you'll bring We're looking for someone with commercial experience in embedded software development who is comfortable working at a low level and has a genuine passion for bare-metal programming . You'll enjoy solving complex technical challenges, debugging hardware and writing efficient, reliable code for resource-constrained systems. To be successful in this role, you'll have: Strong commercial experience developing bare-metal embedded software in C. A solid understanding of microprocessor-based embedded systems. Experience debugging hardware at component level. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. Experience developing Windows applications using Microsoft Visual Studio (C# experience is advantageous). The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team. A degree in Computing, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Experience with platforms such as the Zynq-7000 SoC, Texas Instruments MSP430 or Renesas RX Series processors would be beneficial, although not essential. Knowledge of Linux, digital control systems or video technologies would also be advantageous. We are seeking an experienced Contingent Workforce Program Lead (inside IR35) to support the continued evolution and expansion of our client's global contingent workforce program. In this highly visible role, the successful candidate will partner with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders across HR, Shared Services, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and regional teams to help scale the program into additional countries and markets, strengthen governance and compliance, and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings deep contingent workforce expertise and a strong understanding of global workforce programs, supplier management, compliance requirements, and workforce operations, with a particular focus on Europe and EMEA. This individual will play a key role in advancing strategic initiatives, shaping scalable processes, and serving as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the region. Please note this is a remote role, however, occasional travel to the office in London will be required. Key Responsibilities: Contingent Workforce / MSP: Support the delivery and continuous improvement of the client's contingent workforce program, with a focus on MSP-supported labor solutions. Collaborate with the MSP and internal partners to execute contingent labor processes and resolve service delivery issues. Procurement / Category Management: Lead procurement activities focused on external workforce category management and supplier coordination. Analyse demand and sourcing needs to align procurement activities with broader category strategies. Governance, Change, and Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement as a change agent for procurement and contingent workforce activities. Optimize process efficiency, controls, and user experience across service delivery streams. Stakeholder Management: Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and MSP partners.
