We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority in Devon who are recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager on an initial three-month contract. This is a full-time position, offering hybrid working (Two days a week on site). The daily rate on offer for the role is circa £300.00 to be paid via an Umbrella Company. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience providing a Health and Safety Service within the public sector and have experience Managing Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments. Duties will include (but are not limited to): Advising the Senior Management Board and senior leaders on corporate health and safety legislation, statutory change, and organisational risk implications Leading the development and implementation of Council-wide health and safety policies, objectives, and annual improvement plans, producing performance reports and trend analysis Working collaboratively with senior managers across Directorates to embed a positive health and safety culture and drive continuous improvement Monitoring changes in legislation, guidance, and best practice, translating requirements into practical and proportionate controls across Council activities Designing, delivering, and overseeing occupational health and safety training programmes, including mandatory training, toolbox talks, and provision for fire wardens and first aiders Establishing and managing corporate systems for monitoring health and safety performance, including audits, KPIs, accident and incident reporting, and the close-out of corrective actions Leading investigations into serious incidents, dangerous occurrences, and work-related ill health, ensuring robust root cause analysis and preventative action Overseeing key risk management arrangements including stress risk assessments, PEEPs, lone working, DSE compliance, and employee screening and testing programmes Managing the operational performance of the Corporate Occupational Health & Safety Service, ensuring high-quality advice, statutory compliance, and effective service delivery Representing the Council with regulators and external bodies, and building strong relationships with Members, Trade Unions, and internal stakeholders to promote high standards of health and safety governance Experience/Qualifications required: Occupational safety and health qualification equivalent to EQF Level 6, for example Degree, NEBOSH or NCRQ Diploma, NVQ or SVQ Level 6, or equivalent professional experience In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and recognised best practice Strong understanding of occupational health and safety management systems, risk assessment, and audit processes Membership of IOSH or a comparable professional body Working hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday, Flexible Start/Finish Times Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role. Exciting Opportunity: Education - Head of FP&A We are currently working in partnership with a historic, high performing school based in South-West London, who have created a brand new Head of FP&A role within their Finance department! They are ideally looking to hire on an initial 2 month rolling basis, with the view to possibly take someone on permanently in a few months' time. The permanent salary is currently up to around £65,000, but for the temporary role they can be somewhat flexible (likely to be up to around £550 per day umbrella, depending on experience). The role is full time, Monday - Friday and offers a couple of days per week working from home. The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA/CIPFA or equivalent) . Duties will include - but are not limited to: Leading the month-end closure process to ensure accurate and timely management accounts Preparing monthly payroll cost reconciliations and full year pay forecasts Producing management accounts with detailed variance analysis and commentary Designing and developing reporting packs using modern financial tools and technology Monitoring and reporting on capital projects and large capex spend Managing the annual budgeting and forecasting process for designated budget holders Supporting the Finance Director in consolidating the school-wide budget and long-term financial forecasts Maintaining and updating cost centre approval workflows to reflect organisational changes Enhancing budget holders' financial understanding through training and ongoing support Acting as the primary finance contact for assigned departments, providing financial guidance Undertaking financial analysis and reporting for strategic initiatives as required Supporting the Finance Director and senior leadership team with special projects Collaborating with other finance department members on financial accounting tasks Assisting with year-end processes and preparation of financial statements Responding to audit queries and preparing supporting documentation Experience required: Qualified accountant - essential Proven experience in a senior FP&A role Strong technical skills in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to lead change and improve financial processes Working hours : 40 hours per week Monday - Friday Hybrid working - 2 days per week working from home Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role. The position is due to start on the 19th January , and is offering 2 days working from home . The hourly rate of pay is £37 via an Umbrella company. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Private Sector Housing at a local council and will have access to their own vehicle.
