Team Manager The London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Team Manager - Corporate Parenting, who will manage and supervise Pod Leaders within Pods of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners and other social care staff, providing a service to children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, children subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the court, children subject to private proceedings. Tasks include ensuring the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient social work service to children and their families. In addition, you must ensure that the delivery of the service is within agreed strategic, operational and financial priorities and that it is in accordance with statutory responsibilities, policies and procedures. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the key performance targets, as they apply to the team, are met. The successful candidate will have: A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g.: CQSW or Dip SW) and a minimum of four years post qualifying experience, including the management and supervision of social care staff undertaking statutory work with children and families, preferably in a fieldwork setting. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a social work professional. Knowledge of regulatory and inspection frameworks governing children's services. Experience of providing professional supervision, team building, reflective learning and development. Excellent communication skills. Excellent assessment and analytical skills. Ability to form, develop and maintain effective partnership relationships. Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience. This post will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS and active Social Work England membership.

Service Manager Join Harrow Children's Services Be part of an ambitious Children's Social Care service improving outcomes for children and families The London Borough of Harrow is embarking on an exciting period of change as we deliver a series of ambitious Children's Reforms Programmes - including Families First, Best Start Family Hubs, Best Start in Life and SEND Reforms. We strive to help every child thrive and through the reforms we are reshaping our future support for children, young people and families across the borough. As part of the Families First Programme, we are building a practice system where relationships are key, where we work alongside children and families encouraging family led decision making and offering multi-disciplinary help when its needed. We are building on our strengths to further improve our approach to child protection, remodelling our system to create a dedicated Multi-Agency Child Protection Service (MACPS) , to have the lead role in keeping children and adolescents safe. The MACPS will be a new specialist unit of child protection expertise for the Borough which has a direct link to the Local Safeguarding Partnership providing local intelligence to inform strategic planning for safeguarding children and adolescents across Harrow. The MACPS will comprise of several teams working with the most vulnerable children at risk of exploitation, neglect, abuse, violence and criminality. The MACPS will have dedicated Child and Adolescent Protection Teams which include Lead Child Protection Practitioners, Missing Officers, Police, Education and Health partners. The teams work in collaboration with the Family Help and Children Looked After Services on a co-allocated basis to lead on Section 47 enquiries, chair strategy meetings, child protection conferences, support impactful protection plans and pre-proceedings and promote Family Group Decision Making. The MACPS will also include teams to wrap intensive support around those on the edge of entering care and the Youth Justice Team who works with those in the criminal justice system. Senior Social Worker This is an exciting opportunity to work at the front door of Children's Services, where you will play a crucial role in safeguarding children and promoting positive outcomes for families. Working within a dynamic multi-agency environment, you will be responsible for screening contacts and referrals, gathering and analysing information from partner agencies, and making timely, proportionate, and defensible decisions to ensure children receive the right support at the right time. As a Senior Social Worker within MASH, you will work closely with colleagues from Police, Health, Education, Early Help, and other key partners to assess risk, identify safeguarding concerns, and contribute to effective decision-making regarding thresholds and service interventions. You will provide professional expertise and advice to agencies, promoting high-quality practice and ensuring that children's lived experiences remain at the centre of decision-making. As a part of this role you will help embed a relationship-based, strengths-focused approach to practice, supporting clear risk analysis, balancing strengths and concerns, and contributing to effective safety planning. You will demonstrate professional curiosity, critical thinking, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families. We are looking for an experienced and skilled social worker who can demonstrate: Significant experience in children's social care, with a strong safeguarding and child protection focus. Proven experience within a MASH, Front Door, Assessment, Duty, or Child Protection service. Strong knowledge and experience of screening referrals, information gathering, risk assessment, and threshold decision-making. The ability to analyse complex information and make timely, balanced, and defensible decisions in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to relationship-based and strengths-focused practice, recognising the importance of understanding children's lived experiences. Experience of working effectively within a multi-agency setting, building positive relationships with partners including Police, Health, Education, and Early Help services. Confidence in applying professional judgement and challenging appropriately to ensure the best outcomes for children. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, safeguarding procedures, and current developments in children's social care. Strong communication, assessment, and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear and high-quality written records.
