We're working on the behalf of a highly successful construction company who are seeking a new Financial Accountant to join their team. Working closely with the Director and the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a variety of duties for multiple entities, such as: Recording financial transaction Provision of timely, accurate and useful financial information Preparing budgets and monitoring Preparation & submission VAT, CIS etc Maintaining staff payroll Preparing cash forecast and models using spreadsheets Produce bank reconciliation statements Maintain and optimise insurance policies Maintaining asset register Ensuring efficiency of accounting policies and procedures to facilitate smooth running of the accounts department Overseeing junior members of staff, ensuring accuracy in work and answering queries You will need to be a highly motivated, hands on Accountant, preferably qualified to CIMA or ACCA / ACA level, but potentially could consider those QBE / Part Qual. Any experience within a construction background would be useful. Experience of Sage and Quickbooks, as well as Excel, would be ideal.

The successful candidate will be responsible for running all accounts functions and some HR administration to ensure timely reporting to senior management, assisting in the smooth operation of the business. Duties will include: Delivering monthly management accounts to management team Processing fortnightly wages and monthly salaries Managing sales and purchase ledgers efficiently and effectively Accurately reconciling accounts / rectifying any variances Taking responsibility for all HMRC / Companies House legislative reporting to ensure compliance at all times Maintaining accurate HR records, assisting Commercial Manager with HR tasks Retaining confidential financial and HR data securely Utilising and actively maintaining and supporting company software such as Sage Accounts / Payroll You will need to be a competent, experienced user of Sage Accounts and Sage Payroll. The company would like candidates to be at least AAT qualified or similar, though of course ACCA / CIMA / ACA qual / part qual would also be an advantage. You must be happy to do some HR admin duties alongside the accounts. The company are looking for someone to work 32 hours per week, these can be spread over 4 or 5 days. There is potential to work a day a week at home.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day financial reporting whilst supporting strategic decision making. Duties will include: Providing financial advice on all matters Preparation of annual accounts for audit by Company Accountants, accruals and prepayments, debtors and creditors, income and expenditure. Preparation of audit schedules, liaising with audit team Maintaining Sage 50 to record all income and expenditure, preparation of trial balance, income statement and balance sheet Maintaining fixed asset register and calculating depreciations Management of bank accounts / investments Preparation of annual Budgets to determine levels of spending and advising / presenting to Finance Committee Monitoring income and expenditure against budget throughout the year Attendance to finance meetings with senior team Other general finance duties as needed You will need previous experience in financial accounting, budgeting / forecasting and ideally be fully qualified ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW. You will need strong planning and organisation skills and be confident communicating financial information. The company are ideally looking for someone to work circa 22.5 hours per week.
