Covering the Southwest and South-Central region. including Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Avon, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and South Wales. Spending 70-80% of your time forging solid relationships with OEM machinery / equipment manufacturers and consultants at Design Engineer, Lead Electrical Design and Project Manager level with a 20-30% focus supporting distribution partners. Securing design in specifications on new and existing projects, with a typical sales cycle from 3 months to 3 years. Operating in a 40% new business and 60% account management role, working with OEMs in factory automation and process equipment through to scientific instruments, robotics and humanoid technology. Understanding customer project challenges and providing guidance and input on the best proposed solution. Handling both technical and commercial enquiries from your customer base. (Inhouse technical support team available) Attending industry events, exhibitions and shows. Filtering incoming leads to determining what has the potential to be a major project sale. About You Ideally you will possess a minimum of 2-3 years experience in an external sales role this could be within, but not limited to automation, switchgear, electronic components, IIOT technology, sensors, electrical actuator or affiliated. An education in Electrical or Electronic Engineering would be advantageous, but not essential, as would the capability to read schematics and BOMs. Other key skills needed: Self-motivation and comfortable with project-based selling Comfortable opening doors at design level, not just procurement Hunter mentality with a desire to identify new prospects Able to operate autonomously Full driving license Interested in this role? Working within a service engineering team supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers in the UK with a particular focus on the South. Attending a low number of customer calls as each case can be extremely complicated and time consuming. On rare occasions operating as part of an installation team to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training. Working to preventative maintenance and installation work which is often booked 2-3 months in advance, whilst also reacting to more pressing breakdowns and repairs. Working with the engineering planner to coordinate activities and movements. Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding, problem resolution and repair. Completing service visit reports. About You The ideal candidate will possess at least 2 years of service engineering / technician experience, gained working on complex automated pharmaceutical equipment, including robotics, production/processing, materials handling, packaging and filling machinery. Candidates must speak fluent English and be multiskilled with a mechanical focus. You must be comfortable travelling in the UK and spending nights away from home when needed. A degree level education is beneficial, but not essential. It is, however, essential you have a logical and methodical approach to finding faults and be comfortable working on high value automated machinery. Due to the complex nature of the equipment and the potential travel time, you will typically attend 2-3 customer sites per week. Any travel is conducted Mon-Fri and therefore doesn t encroach onto the weekends. Other responsibilities include: Operating from a home office and visiting customers to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training. Some of the most advanced equipment can take up to 1 week to complete an installation. Visiting major industry and academia clients (50% universities / R&D). Liaising with customers directly to schedule the service visit. Decommissioning equipment for site relocations. Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding and problem resolution. Working on equipment including both hardware and software ranging from £200K to £2m in value. Completing service visit reports. Handling service tickets, gaining the equipment log file and using TeamViewer where possible to gain remote access to their equipment. On the rare occasion you aren t able to resolve the issue on customer site, you will organise for the equipment to be sent to my clients Northern service centre and attend to do further investigation. About You The successful candidate must possess some hands-on experience as a technician or service engineer working on SEM (scanning electron microscope) or TEM (transmission electron microscope) systems. It is essential you have a logical and methodical approach and are comfortable spending up to 60% of your working week away from home.
