The Payroll Officer Role: As our Payroll Officer, you will support the Payroll Manager with end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring that all salaries, pensions, and deductions are processed accurately and on time, in line with HMRC requirements, pension regulations, and College policies. Responsibilities as our Payroll Officer will include: Calculate and process three monthly payrolls for teaching and support staff (680 employees) Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and pension schemes, including Teachers' Pensions, the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), and NEST Reconcile payroll reports and maintain accurate, auditable payroll records Provide clear, timely, and informed payroll support to colleagues across the college (by email, telephone and face to face) Assist with Year End HMRC and Pension reconciliations and corresponding audits Collaborate effectively with People and Finance teams to deliver a seamless employee experience Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of payroll processes Undertake other duties within the scope and grade of the post As our Payroll Officer, you'll ideally have: Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numerical information Experience in full payroll administration (experience within education is advantageous) Excellent communication skills and a calm, solution focused approach The ability to work independently while being part of a supportive team Benefits you will receive: You will receive excellent benefits and a competitive salary: 27.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30.5 after 5 years' service up to 4 days additional leave during the Christmas closure period Access to Discount Schemes at multiple retailers Enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme A retention incentive bonus up to £2,000, T&Cs apply: A one-off incentive bonus of up to £2,000 may be awarded upon successful completion of the probation period.
