I'm a sociable, young man with a great sense of humour, but can get very anxious when trying new things or going to new places, it can take me a little while to get used to new people. When I get anxious, I don't always react in the right way, but when I'm put at ease, I can be very good company. I need help with personal care and transfers, but my physiotherapist and current Support Workers are helping me to get stronger and to learn new skills. I would like support to access community facilities or to experience social and leisure activities, engage in therapy, and to further develop my life skills. Whilst I like trips out, I also enjoy my time at home doing things such as playing games like bingo, singing Karaoke and anything food related. Although I need a lot of support, I love being as independent as possible and I enjoy helping with household tasks and food preparation which I would like to develop further. I use a wheelchair within the home and an attendant propelled wheelchair in the community, but I can transfer myself into the chair. I love music, rugby and have a small dog who is very important in my life. I enjoy the company of others, have a good sense of humour, enjoy going out into the community and going shopping. Most importantly, you will support me with some domestic tasks and managing my home as well as supporting me to attend appointments and some local social activities. I would like my support worker to be warm, patient and reliable, to encourage and support me to access all opportunities helping me to maximise my quality of life.
