More recently, I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Due to a recent change in my mobility, there will be a strong focus on my physical rehabilitation. At times, I experience high levels of anxiety and periods of low mood, which can sometimes lead to feelings of irritability and frustration. Because of this, I'm looking for a support worker who is patient and understanding. I enjoy watching sport, particularly boxing which I follow closely and appreciate someone who can respect my interests and engage with me. I am looking for a support worker who is calm, motivated and open-minded, to support and encourage me in my rehab goals. I would require support with day-to-day household tasks, along with managing medical appointments as and when needed. I would like my support worker to encourage me and actively engage in community activities which will improve my confidence and increase my independence. This role is subject to an Enhanced level DBS check. Full induction and training will be provided. ESSENTIAL INFORMATION To join me as a Support Worker you will need to: - Be able to drive and have use of a car. Be willing to transport the client in your vehicle. Have experience of supporting a person with a brain injury. Enjoy working as part of a team. Be willing to register with Social Care Wales. I live alone and am very independent, but I need some help with jobs around my home and in accessing the community. I have some physical difficulties but manage well. I communicate verbally providing you give me the time I need to express myself, but I do need you to support my communication. I use a wheelchair within the home and an attendant propelled wheelchair in the community, but I can transfer myself into the chair. I love music, rugby and have a small dog who is very important in my life. I enjoy the company of others, have a good sense of humour, enjoy going out into the community and going shopping. Most importantly, you will support me with some domestic tasks and managing my home as well as supporting me to attend appointments and some local social activities. I would like my support worker to be warm, patient and reliable, to encourage and support me to access all opportunities helping me to maximise my quality of life.
