This is an exciting opportunity to join Newcastle College during one of its busiest periods of the academic year, providing vital administrative support to ensure learners receive the financial assistance they need to access and succeed in their studies. The role will commence on 1st September 2026 and continue until approximately 31st October 2026 . The Role As a Learner Support Funding Administrator, you'll play a key role in supporting the effective administration and distribution of learner support funding, ensuring students receive the assistance they're entitled to in a timely and efficient manner. Key responsibilities include: Processing learner support funding applications accurately and efficiently. Managing and distributing learner support funds, including bursaries for childcare, travel, equipment and other eligible expenses. Supporting the administration of Free College Meals and other learner support schemes. Liaising directly with students to distribute travel passes, meal support cards and other funding-related resources. Arranging and coordinating collection appointments with students. Contacting students to ensure the timely collection of travel passes and support items. Issuing laptops to students and maintaining accurate allocation records. Completing and checking all required documentation, ensuring records are accurate and fully compliant. Carrying out data entry and maintaining accurate learner records and funding information. Responding to enquiries from learners, staff and other stakeholders regarding funding processes and eligibility. Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure an excellent student experience throughout the enrolment period. What We're Looking For We're keen to hear from candidates who have: Previous experience within an administrative or customer service role. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail. Experience of maintaining accurate records and processing documentation. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and data entry systems. The ability to communicate confidently with learners, colleagues and external stakeholders. The ability to prioritise workload and work effectively during busy periods. A proactive and professional approach with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Job Purpose: To support and enhance the educational and social development of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), including those with complex learning difficulties, autism, communication needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). The HLTA will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO, delivering tailored interventions, supporting curriculum access, and leading learning activities across the school. Key Responsibilities: Teaching & Learning Support Plan, prepare, and deliver specific learning activities or interventions for individuals or small groups in line with EHCP outcomes and class objectives. Support the class teacher with differentiated planning, preparation of resources, and adaptation of materials for SEN learners. Lead whole-class sessions in the absence of the teacher, including covering for short-term planned absences. Implement and support behaviour management strategies and contribute to behaviour support plans (BSPs), risk assessments, and EHCP reviews. Promote engagement, independence, and emotional regulation using appropriate strategies, including sensory support and communication aids (e.g., PECs, Makaton, AAC). Pupil Support Establish positive relationships with pupils to foster confidence, resilience, and self-esteem. Provide personal care where necessary, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene support, in line with care plans and safeguarding guidelines. Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment and recording systems, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
