The Opportunity PWHytek Ltd are currently recruiting for a number of Senior and Principal EC&I Engineers to support a major programme of work within the UK nuclear sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile engineering programme, supporting the design, operation and ongoing safety of nuclear power generation. We are looking for experienced engineers who can bring specialist knowledge from operational nuclear facilities or nuclear plant design to support technically challenging projects. The Role Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical expertise across EC&I engineering activities, supporting the delivery of engineering solutions within a highly regulated environment. Successful candidates will contribute to engineering assessments, design activities, safety case justification and operational support across a range of nuclear projects. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality mechanical or EC&I engineering solutions across nuclear projects. Support engineering design, modification and substantiation activities. Produce and review technical documentation, engineering calculations and design reports. Contribute to safety case development and engineering justification. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant nuclear standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practice. Essential Experience Degree qualified in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I), or a related engineering discipline. Experience operating at Senior or Principal Engineer level. Demonstrable experience in at least one of the following areas: EDF Advanced Manufacturing Solutions (AMS) AGR (Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor) operations Ancillary plant design and safety case justification Graphite engineering and graphite core assessment Experience working within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated engineering environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams. Desirable Experience Experience supporting operational nuclear power stations. Knowledge of UK nuclear safety cases and regulatory requirements. Experience delivering engineering modifications or life extension programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile programme, providing specialist nuclear safety expertise across complex and highly regulated projects. The role is primarily remote, with occasional site visits required, offering flexibility while contributing to critical national infrastructure. The Role As a Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of safety cases, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the safe design and operation of nuclear facilities. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical leadership and safety assurance throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Develop and review nuclear safety cases for complex engineering projects. Provide technical guidance on nuclear safety and regulatory compliance. Support hazard identification, risk assessment and safety substantiation activities. Work closely with engineering disciplines to ensure safety is integrated throughout the design process. Liaise with clients and stakeholders to support project delivery. Ensure work is delivered in accordance with relevant nuclear legislation, standards and best practice. Essential Experience Degree qualified in an Engineering or Science discipline, or equivalent experience. Significant experience working at Principal Engineer level within the nuclear industry. Demonstrable experience in at least one of the following areas: Criticality safety Uranium enrichment plant safety case development High Enriched Uranium (HEU) programmes Experience developing or supporting nuclear safety cases within a highly regulated environment. Strong understanding of UK nuclear safety principles and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Desirable Experience Experience supporting fuel cycle or uranium enrichment facilities. Familiarity with UK nuclear licensing and regulatory frameworks. Experience engaging with regulators and key project stakeholders. Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration. What's on Offer? We are looking to speak with experienced Mechanical, Process and EC&I Engineers who have a strong background in uranium enrichment, plant design and/or commissioning. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term programme supporting the delivery of highly complex nuclear facilities while working remotely. The Role Successful candidates will provide technical engineering support across the design, development and delivery of nuclear projects, working as part of multidisciplinary engineering teams within a highly regulated environment. Depending on your discipline and experience, responsibilities may include: Delivering engineering and design solutions for complex nuclear facilities. Supporting plant design activities across all project phases. Providing commissioning support and technical input during plant start-up and operational readiness. Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
