Installation Engineer 6 month contract role Based in Stoke on Trent Hourly Rate Depending on experience Full time hours 37.5 hours a week Purpose of the Role The purpose of the Installation Engineer is to deploy fibre installation services within our customer premises, providing a best-in-class quality of service for our residential and business customers. The Installation Engineer reports directly to the Operations Manager, supporting our business vision by delivering a friendly, personable service, breaking the mould of the telecom industry s notoriously poor customer experience. Core Responsibilities Evaluating, testing and installing both legacy and new fibre networks. Liaising with the City team to make sure that both the internal and external customers experience a seamless connection. Ensuring that site operations are carried out to a high standard within contractual specification, to the relevant specification and within quality, health, safety, environmental and NRSWA guidelines and regulations. Ensuring all customer documentation is completed and checked in accordance with client requirements. Installing, testing and splicing fibre optic cables within existing infrastructure. Making sure that all site-specific risk assessments are in place. There will be an element of out of hours on-call working after 3-month probation. Skills & Experience It s important that you have previous experience in fibre optic installation and OTDR, OILM testing and splicing. OSP Telecoms FTTP Build Experience Understanding of the New Roads and Works Act (1991) NRSWA Working knowledge of CDM Fibre Optics Splicing and OTDR/IM Testing principles and experience. Experience of Blown and traditional cable installation techniques. An understanding of method statements and risk assessments. Experience of managing contracted engineering construction works. Resolving any exceptions that occur during the provisioning process within target SLA s In the event of an issue arising during the provisioning and early life process, aim will be to keep the CP regularly updated as to progress, liaising with internal FFL departments, and other departments to ensure swift resolution of the FFL provisioning activities. Reporting and management of potential incidents Ensure all provisioning processes are used efficiently and accurately to reduce double handling and customer dissatisfaction. You will be responsible for monitoring of the FTTP network and reacting accordingly to areas of concern Through trend analysis and network monitoring of the FTTP network, you will play a key role within our incident management process You will be responsible for engagement with our Network Restoration Services Provider ensuring exceptions are managed as per our SLA s Take ownership of day-to-day issues impacting the efficiency of the provisioning/fault management process, including escalation and complaint management. Be proactive in identifying potential areas of development in MAP provisioning procedures. Support the management with development in MAP by taking part in workshops and liaising with other teams to help the continuous improvement of processes and customer experience Working to achieve SLA s, quality standards and other KPI s agreed Technical support on all appropriate products in line with the MAP support scope Own the resolution of customer issues in accordance with MAP processes and policies. Liaise with internal and external parties and take ownership to investigate and resolve those issues Effective time management ensuring tasks are effectively completed within deadlines. Work within the relevant MAP policies e.g. Information Security Responsible for taking ownership through to resolution for CEO Complaints, High Level Escalations, Tickets that have been repeated/reopened a specified number of times and remain unresolved Provide full Root Cause Analysis and highlight improvement opportunities to reduce future fault volumes Be available to work various shift patterns on a roster basis to cover early and late starts. 7:30am till 4pm. 8:30am till 5pm or 9:30am till 6pm Be available to cover one week on call on a roster basis. Job Specification Position: Senior Marine System Engineer Location: Basingstoke, UK Department: Naval and Marine Operation Team Contract Type: Fixed-Term (12 Months) Outside IR35 - Hourly rate DOE Start Date: As soon as available Role Overview A highly skilled Senior Marine System Engineer is required to support global activities across various floating LNG and FPSO projects. The role involves providing technical expertise during design, FEED, and execution phases, with a focus on marine systems engineering, project documentation review, and operational safety. Key Responsibilities Define and develop optimal technical solutions for marine systems. Prepare technical specifications and functional requirements for marine systems in FPSO and FLNG units during FEED and EPC phases. Monitor and review FEED and EPC projects, including marine system equipment, P&IDs, and PFDs. Provide technical support during Technical Clarification meetings and participate in HAZID/HAZOP sessions. Review and assess technical documentation submitted by contractors and shipyards. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure marine system integration and operability. Candidate Requirements Qualifications Degree in Naval Engineering with a focus on Marine Systems. Professional Experience Extensive experience with FEED and EPC LNG projects. Seagoing experience as a Second or Chief Engineer on Oil Tankers or LNG Carriers. Experience with Classification Societies or as a Tanker/LNG Ship Vetting Engineer (advantageous). Active participation in project HAZID/HAZOP processes. Technical Skills Expertise in marine system design including: Slop and drain systems Bilge and ballast systems Inert gas systems Power generation (diesel/gas) and auxiliary systems Freshwater production Compressed air systems Oil and gas loading and storage Gas liquefaction and offtake systems LNG tank design and maintenance Proficiency in preparing and reviewing project P&IDs and PFDs for marine systems. Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks: Classification Society Rules SOLAS MARPOL (specific to FPSO/FLNG) Certifications OPITO certification for offshore travel (preferred but not mandatory).
