Maintenance Operative Peterlee 27,040 Per Annum Training Shift: Monday to Friday, 10.00am - 6.00pm Permanent Shift: Monday to Friday, 2.00pm - 10.00pm We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Operative to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Peterlee. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within engineering and maintenance. The role would suit someone with experience working in a manufacturing environment, or someone who has recently completed an engineering course and is looking to develop their skills. Working alongside an experienced maintenance team, you will support the day-to-day upkeep of production machinery by carrying out routine checks, preparing equipment and materials for maintenance tasks, and ensuring technicians have everything they need to complete planned work. Full training will be provided, with genuine opportunities to progress into a Maintenance Technician role. The Role Following an initial training period on days, you will move onto a permanent Monday to Friday back shift, working as part of the maintenance team. Your duties will include: Supporting the maintenance team with planned maintenance activities Preparing parts, tools and materials ready for maintenance tasks Carrying out routine visual checks on machinery Checking machine components including knives, motors and other mechanical parts Carrying out basic lubrication checks and topping up oils and greases where required Monitoring stock levels of maintenance consumables and spare parts Assisting Maintenance Technicians with planned maintenance work Cleaning and maintaining machinery and equipment Identifying and reporting any defects or potential issues Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures Essential Requirements Experience working within a manufacturing, production or engineering environment Good mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn Reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to work the required shift pattern Own transport or the ability to travel to site for the required shift times Desirable Experience Engineering qualification (Level 1 or above) Experience carrying out basic mechanical checks Previous machine operating or maintenance experience Recently completed an engineering or mechanical course What's on Offer? 13.00 per hour Full training provided Monday to Friday training shift (10.00am - 6.00pm) Permanent Monday to Friday back shift (2:00pm - 10:00pm) after training Excellent opportunities to progress Long-term career with a successful manufacturing business Paid breaks Due to the high volume of candidates responding to our adverts, unfortunately we are not always able to provide individual feedback. Our client, based in Haverton Hill, Billingham, is looking to recruit an Extrusion Operator to join a growing Chemical company, the role will also require the candidate to work on their site in Hartlepool from time to time too, therefore a driving licence is essential. The pay rate is £12.65 per hour + £113.89 SA + Overtime allowance. Hours of work would be working a continental shifts - 4 on and 4 off (days and nights 12 hr shifts). Responsibilities: To operate as part of the process team to meet targets in all relevant areas of activity, and to ensure that products are produced in accordance with the agreed production/business plan Work effectively under the direction of management Compliance with the company's policies and procedures Accountable for own health & safety and that of others who could be affected by your actions including: ensuring that Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Standards are applied in all production plant areas in accordance with policies, guidelines and procedures Ensure that all tasks are performed safely by employing Risk/Manual Handling and COSHH assessments Maintain good housekeeping Ensure that incidents and near-misses are reported promptly to the appropriate internal departments Ensuring compliance with and awareness of Safety Data Sheets when dealing with chemicals Carry out all process and plant operations in accordance with full site standards requirements and other appropriate quality standards, highlight any potential quality issues to relevant personnel Use the stated procedures for carrying out all tasks Ensure material is stored and disposed of in accordance to environmental requirements Participate in a continuous improvement environment in all areas of process team operations.
