We have partnered with a reputable junior school in Fleet who are now looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team within a year 5 class. This school is very supportive and has a wonderful ethos where children feel heard so they can reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant: - Provide dedicated, one-on-one support to a year 5 student, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional needs.
- Support the student in accessing the curriculum by offering tailored help in specific subjects or tasks, ensuring their full participation in lessons.
- Monitor and record the student s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
- Assist in the development and implementation of personalized learning plans (IEPs or support plans) in collaboration with the teacher and SENCO.
- Support the student with any behavioral or emotional challenges they may face during lessons and throughout the school day.
- Assist with the student s general well-being and help foster their confidence and independence.
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies when necessary to ensure effective support for the student.
- Help with classroom organization, preparation of learning resources, and other administrative tasks as required by the class teacher.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions to continuously develop your skills and knowledge.
Key Skills and Attributes: - Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both students and staff.
- Ability to use initiative and work independently, while being part of a team.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- A passion for supporting young learners and helping them succeed.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
The Ideal Candidate Will: - Have an understanding of inclusion and making the curriculum accessible.
- Be able to communicate effectively with both children and staff.
- Have experience working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity.
- Be resilient and able to manage personal well-being in a demanding environment.
- Have the ability to form and maintain appropriate, positive relationships and boundaries with students.
