Are you an experienced Buyer with a passion for fast-paced manufacturing? Do you thrive under pressure, managing multiple priorities and ensuring suppliers deliver on time? We are looking for a proactive Buyer / Expeditor to join a leading organisation in Crewe, supporting both day-to-day purchasing and long-term procurement strategy.

The Role

This role combines tactical purchasing with strategic buying, giving you scope to make a real impact on cost, quality, and supply chain performance. A major focus of the position is expediting - ensuring suppliers meet strict delivery dates and keeping production on track.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Raising, managing, and expediting purchase orders, with constant focus on delivery dates.
• Working closely with suppliers to secure on-time deliveries and quickly resolve issues.
• Interpreting MRP suggestions and manufacturing plans to place accurate, timely orders.
• Reviewing drawings and diagrams for bespoke engineered products to ensure the correct materials and components are procured.
• Forecasting and maintaining inventory levels to support production schedules.
• Collaborating with manufacturing, warehouse, and stores teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Supporting sourcing activities, cost-reduction projects, and category strategies.
• Preparing clear reports on supplier performance, purchasing activity, and stock levels.

About You

We are seeking a passionate, can-do individual who thrives in a busy manufacturing environment. You will bring:

• At least 2 years' experience in purchasing, procurement, or expediting (manufacturing or engineering sector preferred).
• Strong expediting skills - juggling priorities, chasing suppliers, and keeping tight control of delivery schedules.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and diagrams (advantageous).
• Experience with ERP systems
• Proficiency in Excel for forecasting, reporting, and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the drive to go the extra mile to meet deadlines.
